Tufo is finally killing off Michael Talbot, however, he did it in such a slow manner, it put me to sleep. Maybe Tufo's next book will be better.

Indian Hill is about an ordinary boy who grows up in relatively normal times but who finds himself thrust into an extraordinary position. Growing up in suburban Boston, Michael enjoys the trials and tribulations that all adolescents go through, from the seemingly tyrannical mother, to girl problems, to run-ins with the law. From there he escapes to college out in Colorado with his best friend, Paul, where they begin to forge new relationships with those around them. It is one girl in particular that has caught Michael's eye, and he alternately pines for her and laments ever meeting her.

I was very happy with this series, I ended up listen to all three books this weekend.

It's not a Zombie series, however, it's just as fun.

I had to get all three, and read them this weekend.

Even though Mike is back in the middle of things, and some of the background is taken from Tufo's other series, this set was a real treat.

I hope there will be a book four.

There's a nasty flu going round. An epidemic, they call it. The posters say to cover your mouth when you sneeze, and throw away the tissue. But such simple measures won't stop this flu. Because when you catch the flu, armed police come and lock you in your house to die alone. When you catch this flu, it kills you in days. And when you catch this flu, two hours after it's killed you, your eyelids snap open again....

I've never read anything by Wayne Simmons before, however, after struggling to get 1/4 through this book, and finally giving up, I don't think I'll ever read anything by him again. I finally just gave up and called it unreadable.

I've yet to figure out who the main char. is, or what the story is about - it starts off as a typical Zombie story, people turning undead, then wanders off into some girl that's being held captive by some guy. From there it only got worse.

The world is dead, devoured by a plague of reanimated corpses. In a crumbling city, Sarah, Nathan, and a band of survivors barricade themselves inside a warehouse surrounded by a sea of shambling putrefaction. Days in seclusion blur by, and their food is nearly gone. The group is faced with two possible deaths: creeping starvation, or the undead outside the warehouse. As Sarah stands on the edge of the warehouse roof preparing to step out into oblivion she spots a glimmer of hope.

Starts like your "normal" zombie book, however, quickly ventures into an area not explored by most zombie books.

I'd expect to see a follow up book, since this one leaves it open for another.

  • World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Normally, you only read/hear, the story after the Zombies have taken over the world, or at the start of the takeover. WWZ goes back and fills in the missing parts, gives you a very good back story; given from the point of view of those that where there, and lived it.

The first book of Day by Day Armageddon took us deep into the mind of a military officer and survivor as he made a New Year's resolution to start keeping a journal. The man kept his resolution and brought to us the fall of humanity, day by day. We see the man transition from the life that you and I live to the prospect of fighting for his very survival against the overwhelming hordes of the dead. We see him bleed, we see him make mistakes, we witness him evolve.

Out of the large number of Zombie books out there, this is one of the best I've ever listened to. Bourne does a great job of bring the listener into the story that your going to want to see more from him.
