"Just as good as the first time,- 40 years ago"
I loved the adventure about it. Here was a young girl, stepping out in faith and ventruing into the rugged beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains to a backwoods, rural, and poor-seeming community to try to make a difference in their lives.. I loved the backward, but beautifully musical and poetic way the mountain people spoke. I loved having insight into the characters' struggles to be honest with themselves and to find their divine relationship to God when they were willing to listen and follow where they were led.
Can't think of one at the moment!
In a strange way, but its a completely different book,- maybe Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. While Christy is innocent, and the character in Shantaram is far from innocent,- both of them are on journeys into places unfamiliar to them, embracing the people they meet there with love, and both trying to do something meaningful with their lives.
Starlight and the shadow was pretty unforgettable.
Also loved Christy and the doctor dancing!
Christy or Alice Henderson. Love to hear more of their stories.
Loved this book as much as the first time I read it,- almost 40 years ago!
