"can't beat this old program for christmas!"
vintage still works!
the ending, where scrooge realises he is still alive and it is christmas morning.
i loved hearing the voices of orson wells and lionel barrymore.
it's well worth buying and listening to, i plan to listen again. it's wonderful. the voices have such character, and it's unique.
"spectacular!"
the full cast production allows you to "see" the experience of this dense, complex book in a different way. it's unique for the number of voices, although at some point in this 19+ hour experience, it is easier to hear some of the narrators taking multiple parts. the ways of speaking, and the accents of the many characters were so well done. i especially loved the voices of shadow and wednesday.
i had already read the book, but my son pointed out to me that there was a 10th anniversary edition. when the audible book of it went on sale, i grabbed this one. it does take quite a bit of commitment to listen to such a long story, and keep it all straight, even with a previous reading. but it's rewarding. very much so.
wondering now if i should re-read the original book to see how it differs from the new edition. certainly it will all turn out the same way, although in neil gaiman's universe - maybe not!
i certainly will always remember shadow's journey, and the gods, people, and creatures he interacts with....there are so many memorable scenes. i just loved the parts narrated by neil himself, and hoped there would be even more of that. he's a great reader.
highly recommended.
"this story is sooo great..."
no, the print version is better, for me, and i would rather read it in an ebook edition. i hope that happens soon! however, not being able to
constantine, of course! the mysterious vampire who is an anomaly among vampires: a kind vampire, a vampire who is not evil.
to an extent, not all that well.
it brings chills at some points....
i would like to listen to an audiobook of this book with all the voices more accurately portrayed....i would like voices that sounded more male for the male voices, and a different voice for sunshine.
