Rule by head or rule by heart? Elinor Dashwood is a great believer in "sense," while her exuberant younger sister Marianne feels keenly that only "sensibility" (what today we'd call passion) serves to guide the heart. Through vicissitudes and, in the case of Marianne, outright betrayal by her lover, these two women learn the value in the other's outlook, and thereby prepare themselves for later domestic bliss that is the hallmark resolution of Jane Austen's novels.

    "Inexpressive reader"
    Overall

As a great fan and frequent reader of Jane Austen, and having enjoyed the audible Pride and Prejudice, I was very disappointed in the reader of this book. I had not noticed that so many of the comments were negative, but will surely pay more attention in the future. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

For she leads a dark, double life that she hides from everyone.

    "Amateurish reading"

While listening to this book, I marveled that this reader was paid for this performance. It was incredibly poorly done throughout, but reached bottom in the last 25 minutes when she tried to make the sounds of gunfire. I advise you to avoid this listen.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It is a truth universally acknowledged that anyone looking for a great listen won’t be able to resist Jane Austen’s delightful classic of love and manners in Regency England. Jane Austen's story of Mrs. Bennet's finding husbands for her daughters is told with wit and charm. A must for lovers of good literature. Commuters Library presents Pride and Prejudice read by Kate Reading.

    "poor reading"

Robert Forster reads this without expression or wit. It's hard to imagine a worse job. Elmore Leonard deserves better.
