I hope that audible takes a notion to tell us the order of these books, and to link them together. Just so you know, this is book #1 and a great begining to this authorverse.

This semester at Bloor's Academy brings a few changes. There is a new art teacher, Mr. Boldova, and a new student, Belle, who lives with the Yewbeam aunts and seems to have a strange power over them.

Ok. BEFORE you read these two books you MUST go read the LIONESS QUARTET. It is not nessesary, you could just jump in right here, BUT if you are anything like me a good read is a good read and the LIONESS QUARTET tells the stories that start this Authorverse, and really magnify the enjoyablity of this book. Well you have made it through this most excellent series, and you need to know what book to go get and read next. The answer is simple! Trickster's Choice followed by Tricksters Queen. Those two books are both set in this same Authorverse, and the same reader too.

Well I just read the previous two reviews, and for both listners the audio background effects(FX) were a plus. FOR ME it was a huge distraction. I had to restart this story thrice, and finally gave up. It's one thing to have a little bit of music to get you started and to wrap things up. But this never stops, The reader stops for long segments of time to let the FX continue. If they would JUST READ the book they might cut a hour or so off the length of the novel and be much more interesting. ALSO this is listed as unabridged, and the last time I opened a book, It didn't sing along. This should be noted to the reader better, maybe even as classed as dramatized. I hope the publisher reads this review and releases an actually UNABRIDGED version so I can hear the story an not a lot of lame FX I'm not into. The story seem interesting. (fix the sequels too if they also need de-FX'd)

Alanna of Trebond is no ordinary girl: her dream is to become a knight. So she disguises herself as a boy and begins training at the palace of King Roald. Alanna quickly finds out that the road to knighthood is not an easy one, but her skills and stubborness help her become friends with Prince Jonathan and his followers. At the same time, Alanna makes an enemy of the prince's uncle, the overly charming Duke Roger.

This is an excellent book, the first writing done by it's author. This book is a true measure of her talent, and it's story almost impossible to stop for more than a few minutes. I'm now on the third book and I listened to the second straight through. If adventure, magic, and chivalry are of interest to you then the whole series is a must read. In fact i'm buying the fourth book now, and intend to listen to everything Audible has of hers.
