Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

One of the best thrillers I've heard. Coben kept me intrigued throughout the entire story. This is one of the few thrillers I've read that I couldn't figure out how the story would end. Scott Brick did a wonderful job of narrating this book. I would recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers!

A peaceful Minnesota town, where crime is something that just doesn’t happen, is about to face its worst nightmare. A young boy disappears. There are no witnesses, no clues — only a note, cleverly taunting, casually cruel. Has a cold-blooded kidnapper struck? Or is this the reawakening of a long-quiet serial killer?

I think Hoag wrote a pretty good mystery/suspense story, but felt there was way too much sex. I felt this was unnecessary and distracted from the story.
At times the thoughts of the characters were repeated. This too was unnecessary to the overall story.
The narrator came across as boring. At times it seemed as though I was listening to a bedtime story.
Still even after all of the things I felt were wrong, I would recommend this book. I still wanted to know what happened to the characters. I am looking forward to the next book in this series Guilty As Sin.

Sorry. The single word is written on a mirror. In front of it hangs a Minneapolis Internal Affairs cop. Was it suicide? Or a kinky act turned tragic? Either way, it wasn't murder. At least not according to the powers that be. But veteran homicide detective Sam Kovac and his wisecracking, ambitious partner, Nikki Liska, think differently. Together they begin to dig at the too-neat edges of the young cop's death, uncovering one motive - and one suspect - after another.

Things are more complicated than they seam as the suspense builds in this wry and enjoyable police procedural. When Santa Fe police chief Kevin Kerney finds the dead body of hotel magnate Clifford Spalding at a mountain ranch, he has a pretty good idea about who to talk to; the list of suspects isn't long. Spalding had a devious wife who was cheating on him with a known thug, and an embittered ex-wife with mental problems.

Although I have enjoyed every book in the Kevin Kerney Series I believe Guidall does the best Kerney interpretation of all the narrators I have listened to. McGarrity keep up the good work!

Critically acclaimed author Michael McGarrity’s powerful tale is packed with constant surprises and nonstop action. When retired Santa Fe detective Kevin Kerney discovers a mysterious body, his quiet summer in the Gila Wilderness is interrupted. Narrator George Guidall holds you spellbound as Kerney tangles with a modern paramilitary group and a vicious 60-year-old feud.

LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. They are each other’s last chance.
