The complete "box set" of T. H. White's epic fantasy novel of the Arthurian legend. The novel is made up of five parts: "The Sword in the Stone", "The Witch in the Wood", "The Ill-Made Knight", "The Candle in the Wind", and "The Book of Merlyn".

What disappointed you about The Once and Future King?

The story dragged on and on on unimportant speeches made by unimportant characters. I would find myself wool gathering for 10 minutes at a time during my commute and realize that I didn't miss anything!

What could T. H. White have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

After 10 hrs of book one, nothing interesting happened. Wort was changed into a few animals as a learning excersize, he met Robin Hood, and saved some people from the Faeries. You would think that it would be interesting?!? NOT! The writing is just so....Over worded (is that a term?). White writes as if he got paid by the word.

    Any additional comments?

I enjoy Brandon Sanderson, Tolkien, King, Koontz, Goodkind.....White dissapointed.

When Caldan’s parents are brutally slain, he is raised by monks and taught the arcane mysteries of sorcery. Vowing to discover for himself who his parents really were, and what led to their violent end, he is thrust into the unfamiliar chaos of city life. With nothing to his name but a pair of mysterious heirlooms and a handful of coins, he must prove his talent to earn an apprenticeship with a guild of sorcerers. But he soon learns the world outside the monastery is a darker place than he ever imagined, and his treasured sorcery has disturbing depths. As a shadowed evil manipulates the unwary and forbidden powers are unleashed, Caldan is plunged into an age-old conflict that brings the world to the edge of destruction.

set the world and people up. I found my attention skipping and hard to keep up.
the end was great and I feel the remaining books in the series will be great.
The free first chapter of book 2 at the end of this book was a very good sign...Excellent !
