This is a true story about a woman who has only seen her mother twice since the woman was a little girl. The mother is an unpleasant character. The second visit is what the book focuses on. By the time of the second visit, the mother is not only unpleasant but seems to be suffering from senile dementia. I quickly lost interest in the mother. There did not seem to be any reason for the daughter to be visiting her. I lost interest in the story and starting skipping ahead. The narrator was excellent however.
This was written by a Christian and had a very religious outlook. This is fine and people who enjoy religious books would probably enjoy that. However, I was looking more for a nonreligious historical account of the time and place she described.
I would have preferred an abridged version of this audiobook. I was occasionally instructed to refer to a figure (presumably a graph, chart, or table) which was irrelevant to me as a listener. Also, when explaining his findings, the author would give percentages of the population who fit into this category or that category. I would have preferred the author to just say that, based on his review of the statistics, these are his assumptions and believes. Then I could have been spared all the statistics. Of course, those people who are interested in the statistics could have purchased the book or an unabridged audio version.

This lecture included discussions between the lecturer and audience members. Unfortunately, it was often difficult to understand the questions or comments of the audience members because of the poor audio quality.
The lecturer was knowledgeable and a good speaker. However, a good portion of the lecture involved questions and answers involving the audience. It was difficult to understand what the audience members were saying due to the poor audio quality. Also, I had been expecting an uninterruped lecture, and I did not find the audience participation portion (what I could hear of it) useful.
The lecture itself was interesting and the lecturer presented the material well. However, the audio quality was poor during a significant part of the recording. For example, part of the lecture included having the audience watch a documentary. It was difficult to understand what was being said in the documentary because the recording of that portion of the lecture was so poor. Also, the lecturer would sometimes take questions from the audience or have a conversation with an audience member. However, it was difficult or impossible to understand what the audience members were saying and the lecturer did not repeat their questions or comments for the benefit of the Audible listener.
