She may be a best-selling author, but ex-librarian Jacqueline Kirby's views on the publishing biz aren't fit to print. In fact, she's thinking of trading celebrity for serenity and a house far away from fiendish editors and demented fans, when her agent whispers the only words that could ever make her stay: Naked in the Ice.

Started listening and after rambling on for one hour, I gave up. If you can't capture my interest in that amount of time, well, that's it for me!

When ex-con Max Holman finally gets out of jail, freedom doesn't taste too sweet. The only thing on his mind is reconciliation with his estranged son, who is, ironically, a cop. But then he hears the devastating news: His son and three other Los Angeles police officers were gunned down in cold blood the night before Holman's release.

mindusq says: "Not as good as some of his others"
"The "Two Minute Rule" solves the case . . ."
    Overall

What makes a good book it the writer, what makes a great book is the person who reads it to you. Robert Crais did an excellent job of leading down a path so you would "jump" to the conclusion of who was responsible for the crime, it was only a distraction. The key to catching the bad guy is in the title.

Christopher Graybill has now become one of my favorite readers. He has the ability through voice alteration, accent and any other voice manipulation you can think of, to create characters you visualize in your mind. You don't get any better than that.

  • The Hunters: A Presidential Agent Novel

Two brutal murders and millions of missing dollars have led Castillo and his team to Uruguay, where the man they seek is murdered right before their eyes. Who is responsible? Most likely, the people higher up in the dirty-money chain, those willing to risk anything to keep their secrets from being revealed. They've left just enough of a trail, though, for Castillo to pick up the scent and to follow it wherever it takes him. He ends up...well, not exactly where he expected.

Ed says: "Great story even better narrator"
"Thumbs up on Jay O Sanders"
    Overall

I too am a W.E.B. Griffen fan having listened to his WWII series prior to this as well as the first in the Presidential series. Sanders, along with Frank Muller are the two best readers out there. I am amazed at his ability to draw pictures in your mind of the characters by his ability to alter accents and voices at will.

The plot takes you on a multicontinent tour with a number of characters developed in previous books, the adventures of Charlie Castio brings out the Walter Mitty in all of us.
