This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

This listen was the first time i had read or listened to this book. I have read many stephen king books but for some reason i had continued to put this one off but when i saw that it was now on audio i thought i would give it a shot and damn am i so happy i did!! This story was just incredible. Ther are tons of characters and many story lines that come together in a fantastic way.The first 8-10 hours is alot of character building i was bit skeptical as i listened but this part is essential in getting a feel for the vast amount of characters in this book. Once the story really gets going it will completely absorb you and the time will fly by as you listen. At 47 hours long you would think you would be ready for it to end but i was not. To me that is how you know a book is a good one is when you dont want it to end. I have just over 100 books in my audio collection i have been a member for almost a year now and i would definetly put this one in my top 3. If u are a fan of stephen king you will absolutely LOVE this story.

This book is a bit different compared to the first two in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two so it was a no brainer to pick this one up and recommend u do the same if u liked the first two. This book showed a bit of a softer sid of Nathan while still having plenty of action to keep it exciting. The storyline was pretty solid although a bit predictable at points but still entertaining. I do kinda wish they would have involved Nathans partner Harv a bit more in this book there partnership was an exciting part of the previous stories. As aways Dick Hill does a good job with the narration even though the girls voice gets a bit whiney at times but whatta ya gonna do LOL. Overall entertaining story that i would reccomend for a fun fast listen.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Brandon Sanderson is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. After reading Way of Kings and loving it i decided to give this series a try and was very happy i did. The world he has created in this story is fun. This book has a great balance of action and magic. The powers he created in his characters are very unique the way they use metals to create powers is very interesting. Overall a very great start to a great series. How much fun would it be to be MISTBORN!! LOL

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

I have been looking for something to help fill the time while waiting for a new game of thrones book and found a great new series. This is the first book of this series and it is a great start to what i think could rival game of thrones. It starts a lil slow but once i got into it i couldnt stop listening. The narration is great and it has great characters i found myself immersed in the world that brandon sanderson has created. This was my first sanderson novel but definetly not my last. If u love great epic fantasy then this is a novel for You..

I had been looking forward to this book for over a year now and was extremely excited to get it. That said it diddnt quite live up to expectation. After thouroughly enjoying the first two books, which are by far my two favorite zombie fiction novels and i have read quite a few, it just wasnt as good. If u have already read the first two i defintetly stll recomend this one. it does continue the story all though it is written in a differen style instead of following just the protagonist thru his journal their are multiple viewpoints which has some positives and negatives. The ending definetly left much to be desired it seemed very rushed and ended too early in my opinion. I do hope there will be another addition to this series i would still be interested in seeing where it could go.

A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he can be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang… but a bite.

When i first saw this book i got excited i just recently listened to the Joe Ledger series from Maberry and really liked it so i was excited to see this seeing as i am a new fan of zombie literature. The story itself was good not as good as the ledger novels or day by day armageddon I like my zombie storys a little more post apocalyptic but it had a good enough story line to keep me interested. The problem was the narrator i could tell in the first chapter that the narrator was going to be a problem i almost gave up on the book. The over acting and inflection on certain words just horrible narration they should have got the guy that did the ledger novels he isnt the best but much better than Dufris. I may give maberry novels another shot but will never listen to this narrator again.

In your hands is the handwritten journal depicting one man's struggle for survival. Trapped in the midst of global disaster, he must make decisions; choices that ultimately mean life, or the eternal curse to walk as one of them. Enter, if you will, into the world of the undead.

This book was great. I have recently started to get into this genre with the tv show The Walking Dead which is also great. It was very believable, as believable as a zombie story can be LOL.
I listened straight thru on this book and by the end found myself wishing i was in this post apocalyptic world only for a little bit tho lol. This story took me in completly and i went straight to the second book upon finishing and cant wait for the third. I highly recomend this to anyonewho likes post apocalyptic type stories this is less of horror story and more of a story of survival. It doesnt lack in action but is not too gory even if u are not a huge zombie fan i think u can still very much enjoy this book its definetly worth every penny. My only complaint is that i wish the story was longer even though it does pick up right where it left off in the second book.

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

I am new to audible and this was my first audio book and i thought it was great. I have read a few stephen king novels and really liked them this is my favorite so far. The narrarator Raul Esparza does an excellent job with the characters i think it was just the way he did Big Jim Rennie that made me hate the character that much more. I am so glad King decided to give this novel another shot. It has a huge cast of characters at first you might find it hard remembering whos who but he does a really good job of telling everyones story and by the end of the book you feel like you know them all on a personal level. All I can say is give this one a shot it is nonstop pedal to the medal action throughout.
