Books like this really suffer when the protagonists are faced with too many crises and harrowing situations. Getting them out alive gets more difficult and un believeable as the book goes on.The transition from having the slaves in the warehouse to having them back on the platform in the Gulf was virtually instantaneous and done in too few hours compared to the pages of description used to get them ashore in small boats in the first place. There were too many shortcuts like this.
I have very much enjoyed a fair number of his books, but this one didn't make it.
