When Laird Taran Ferguson's nephews refuse to wed and secure his birthright, he takes matters into his own hands, raiding a ball and kidnapping four likely brides - a bonny lass, an heiress with a slight reputation problem, a rich English beauty, and a maiden without a name or a fortune. But which one is ready to fall in love with the Scottish lord?

    Any additional comments?

If you think this is an anthology, since there are 3 authors, you would be wrong. If you think this reminds you of an anthology since there are 3 authors, you would be right. I applaud the unique way this book, (and its predecessor: The Lady Most Likely), is able to combine the 3 voices of 3 talented authors. No surprises, if you've read them before, they are true to form. Solid writing, a bit whimsical, light and entertaining.I recommend this book if you enjoy short stories, for while the novel is seamless, there isn't the depth or character development of a regular novel, so at the end you feel like when you've just eaten one half of the candy bar. It was sweet, it was enough, but you end up wanting more.I recommend this for any short story, anthology aficionados, but if you are looking for a long romance with all the twist, turns and plotting devices we have come to enjoy, you might be disappointed. But give it a try, it's a nice way to get your fix from Quinn, Brockway and James, while we wait for them to release a full length novel with all the gripping parts that keeps us hooked!

When Andie tries to gain closure with her ex-husband, he asks one final favor of her. A distant cousin has died and left North the guardian of two orphans. When Andie meets the two children, she realizes the situation is much worse than she feared. Carter and Alice aren’t your average delinquents, and the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers. Complicating matters is Andie’s fiancé’s suspicion that this is all a plan by North to get Andie back.

I am happy to report this book definitely goes in my love column. In fact, when I find another, "why bother" book I re-listen to this one to remind me that a funny, mysterious, romantic book can engage all of your emotions and not cause your brain to bleed.

Well worth spending your credit on this one! It's a keeper.

Would you listen to Secrets of a Summer Night again? Why?

I bought this audiobook so I could reread the Wallflower series, it amuses me and entertains me and I laugh like I did the first time I devoured the series day after day until they were all read.

Brenn Owen, the new but impoverished Earl of Merton, is looking for a bride: one rich enough to finance his estate. When he meets Tess Hamlin, he sees a woman who is not only wealthy, but a dazzling beauty as well. To his surprise, Tess quickly accepts his proposal. But behind her eagerness lurks a secret she will do anything to hide from him. As the Earl and his bride begin their life together, their path is a passionate one, but far from smooth: haste must give way to patience and understanding.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

An enjoyable evening spent listening to the book, nice narrator. I won't say it is the most memorable, but light and breezy.
