This story is very interesting and inspiring. To think that it is a true story is incredible and I cannot imagine such an event taking place.

This reminded me of Endurance by Ernest Shackleton. The will to live and press on is an incredible feature.

Movies usually ruin a books story.

A very good listen and something that can impart a good qualities

I would recommend this because it is captivating all the way through.

The story wasnt so far fetched that it was impossible follow but still pulls at the imagination

I wont give away any scenes but the majority of the story takes place on a train which makes it a little more magical because of how little they are used anymore.

August, the antagonist. His bi-polar personality makes each scene he is in interesting because you dont know what (or who) to expect.

This is one that I would recommend for sure. I havent watched the movie yet but I hear that it is good as well, but, like most novels-turned-movie wont be as good.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has read/listened to Tolkiens other books and not just The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. The story is very rich with detail and starts out by diving right in to who is who and how they are related. Tolkiens way of character development can be abrasive to some who are not used to it.

I liked this book because it was something very new (to me). Original characters, plot, and the good guys didnt end up on top in the end. It also set up the feeling among the various races towards each other which helps to explain some things in some of his other writings.

Make sure you have enough time to dedicate to listening to this. Its a great story but if you have a lapse in listening its easy to forget a twist. I listened to the first half on a business trip and went about a week before listening to the rest and had to jog my memory on what was going on. But I guess thats pretty much true in every story.
