"Great story, but needed a good editing."
Crazy amazing heroine!
Jessica. I just love her! Her wit is just great, love her devotion to her family, and did I mention that wit? Too cool.
Really great, distinguishable voices.
You bet!
My biggest problem with the story is the length. I felt there were too many issues. Jessica overcomes this problem, then the next. Then the next. Then the next. I think if the writer would've cut out one or two of the issues, it would make for a better book. There is nothing worse than thinking, it's not over yet? All in all though, great read!
"Ugh."
Better paced. It was very slow at times. I eventually just quit.
I'm actually listening to her Iron Fey series. I like them very much.
She is wonderful, but not enough to make up for this book.
REALLY wanted to like this. Amazing concept. Just not well written.
"Way to dark. Couldn't finish it."
Way too dramatic.
I really liked the first two books. This book was SO dark! Though in all fairness, with Requiem as a title, I should have known. I skipped ahead several chapters to see if the ending was lighter, and even the ending was heavy! Not her best work. Will be requesting a refund.
"A really nice story."
It's up there.
Yes indeed. Luckily I have a job where I am able to do that.
Some heavy subject manner that was handled well. A witty, wonderful heroine, and a seriously dreamy knight in shining armor. And even better, she saved him right back. I highly recommend this book.
"He's my favorite!"
Super, crazy, funny!
The Oatmeal Song rocks my world!
I love this guy and his quirky humor!
"Cracked me up!"
Obviously it is Jane! She is so funny! I love her humor.
Great voices, all different. Also great timing.
Well it's a silly concept and a silly book, right? There's nothing wrong with that! I had just finished a rather heavy book and needed a good laugh, and that is exactly what I got. So that is great! I do have to say that I say the ending coming from the get-go, but other than that, I loved it!
"Not extraordinary, but not terrible."
It wasn't extremely amazing, but it wasn't terrible. The concept was interesting, Julia Whelan did a fine job, but other than that, I could take it or leave it.
"Art, mischief, parents I wanted to punch..."
Yes, but not for some time. I had a very difficult time with the family reunion at the end.
Not a book, but a movie. The Family Fang is very similar to Wes Anderson's "The Royal Tennenbaums." The themes are very similar, that oddball humor that I LOVE, the overall wackadoo tone. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Oh man, the "Kill All Parents" performance art scene had me almost driving off the road because I couldn't stop laughing! SO good!
Let's change the question. How about, if I could punch any character from The Family Fang in the face, who would it be? Answer: CALEB. And then I'd go find Camille and punch her in the face. And then I'd call it art. Seriously, not just the worst parents ever, but how about worst people ever! SO self absorbed and truth be told, cruel. Ooo they made me mad. Here's the thing. I LOVE the idea of performance art. Of course not all of the projects were winners. But there was a lot of fun in the art. Making it a family affair is great. And family should come first. But the idea of "the only thing that matters is art," really pisses me off. I won't go into details so I don't spoil anything, but let me say that the "final project" made me livid, stunned, hurt. Good writing, by the way. I felt like I was being told the details of the project in person.
VERY happy I got this book! I LOVED IT!
"Sorry to see it the series end."
Sassy Belle. She's so wonderful.
Oh all of them. They are all so separate, they don't blend together, I think that is SO important!
I was getting pretty chocked up when Belle was interrogating Rome. I don't know how she kept it together!
I wanted more Tanner! A minor critique would be that style of writing where everything is wrapped up neatly in a pretty little bow, i.e. everyone ends up together. So and so didn't get the guy, but she got another guy, etc. But all in all, a great book! Sorry to see it end.
"Now that's just messed up."
A heroine who never gives up. Penryn is truly awesome.
I'm stunned. I just finished the book and all I can say is, "Wow, that is messed up." I liked the book, but I can't think of how to word it. It was disturbing, that is FOR SURE. Terrifying look at the end of days. Terrifying.
"Oh heck yeah!!!"
Give me more.
The first meeting of Belle and Tanner. Could not stop laughing!
Her Belle is feisty. Her Tanner is goofy. Her Rome is smoldering. Her Lexis is exotic. These are all very different characters and she articulated that beautifully with her voicing. I was very pleased!
This reminded me so much of the Paranormalcy series! I loved that series too! Looking forward to book 2!
