This novel represents the first appearance of Lawrence Sanders' most famous character, Edward X. Delaney, and the masterpiece of murder and suspense that launched Sanders' career. This suspenseful classic is brought to life by a full cast, including L. J. Ganser, Marc Vietor, Mark Boyett, Zoe Hunter, Gabra Zackman, Lauren Fortgang, Kevin T. Collins, Josh Hurley and Peter Ganim.

Miss Julia, a recently bereaved and newly wealthy widow, is only slightly bemused when one Hazel Marie Puckett appears at her door with a youngster in tow and unceremoniously announces that the child is the bastard son of Miss Julia's late husband. Suddenly, this longtime church member and pillar of her small Southern community finds herself in the center of an unseemly scandal - and the guardian of a wan nine-year-old whose mere presence turns her life upside down.

At least that’s what improper Southern belle Maggie Forsythe thinks after being unceremoniously dumped two weeks before getting hitched to a man even her mother approves of. Maggie has never given two figs what anyone thinks, so why is she hiding away from her South Carolina Low Country home? That is until concerned — albeit scheming — friends arrive with three options: One: Sit and mope. Two: Go home to her gallery.

Mary says: "Wish I had returned it."

Would you try another book from Sherryl Woods and/or Tanya Eby?

Why would you EVER have a yankee read the part of a Charlestonian. The most distinct southern accent is a Charleston accent!! The narrator goes from the Hampton's/NY accent to a sad southern want to be!!

She ruined the book………book is set in Charleston with all Characters from Chalreston. Hello…….. Who hired this Northern woman to read the poor plotted, predictable, and at times boring book!!

Would you ever listen to anything by Sherryl Woods again?

    maybe……. toooo sappy

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?

    Not for a SOUTHERN character
