I've read and listened to them all.. the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices... and this was by far and away the best. Moving, surprising and deep. Danial Sharman's narration did justice to a lovely, and well written story.
My only complaint... it ended. what an amazingly crafted world Hugh Howey crafted. I hope there is a sequel! Awesome!
This is such a fun listen! Wasn't sure I'd like it at first but Emily Gray's narration brings Alexia's quirky personality to life beautifully! I'm hooked and can't wait to listen to the next one in the series!
I love this series! I love everything about it. It's witty, smart, clever and sometimes sarcastic. Only problem is... the books are over too soon! I plug in my headphones and it sin't long before I'm smiling, or laughing out loud. Makes a dreary day a little brighter.
Kevin Hearne manages to twist mythology and "reality" into a clever tale and I love how he incorporates the Navajo mythology with the rest of his pantheon. The story is engaging on its own but Luke Daniels brings it to life like on one else could. He really seems to "get" the tale and knows just how to give it voice. I love Oberon and miss the widow, but I'm looking forward to the new characters we will meed in the next in the series!
Ok, even though I read enough of the other reviews to know the narration was questionable, I decided I had to listen anyway to keep the series flow... I'm not sorry I used a credit, but I have to add my "thumbs down" to the narration. Maybe Ms Quinn's voice will mature and find some depth and range... maybe not. But she wasn't a good fit for this story. Ed Westwick is passable but maybe he should work on his "American accent" by watching something other than the Soprano's reruns or Jersey Shore. Honestly, I kept waiting for him to have Jace say something like, "fuggadaboutit."
Ah well... this one will likely be a "listen to once" and put it away for good entry into my library.
On to Book 5 - hope it's with a better cast!
What a great listen! I enjoyed the story enormously but Kevin Hearne's reading made it even more fun.
Can't wait for the next book in the series!
I've loved the Mistborn series and listened to the entire series straight through. This one didn't disappoint! I only wish it had been longer. Perfectly narrated by Michael Kramer. Looking forward to listening to the next one when it comes out.
