New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

    "Loved it!"
    Overall

I really enjoyed this book. It was read well and the writing was great. This is my first Sandra Brown and I'll agree with an earlier review that it has inspired me to look for more, preferably unabridged.

In the latest from Nelson DeMille (author of The Lion's Game), Paul Brenner is called out of CID retirement to investigate the murder 30 years ago of an army lieutenant in Vietnam. Brenner's trip up country, with a beautiful American expatriate for company, will lead him to uncover an explosive, long-buried secret.

    "Great!"
    Overall

I loved this book and have listened to it over and over. I learned a lot about Vietnam and thought it was great the way the plot was interwoven with the fascinating information about the war and the country. The plot had some twists and surprises which kept things interesting.

  • Don't Know Much About History: Everything You Need to Know About American History

When Don't Know Much About History first appeared, it created a sensation. With humor, great stories, and a trademark conversational style, the audiobook brought Americans a fresh new take on history. Davis proved that Americans don't hate history - they just hate the dull textbook version they were force-fed in school.

Tom says: "Great listen. Great information."
    "Violence bothered me."
    Overall

I thought that this was a great idea and did enjoy listening but...I had a hard time with the depiction of the violence; it was more graphic than I can deal with personally, so I didn't finish the book just due to that. Perhaps it gets better; I quit after he was talking about the colonists skinning an Indian alive.
