"Now available on Priceline.com"
Thanks Bill for such an entertaining book. (After reading this book, I know you must be reading this review.) Thanks also for the many years of entertaining us from Twilight Zone to Priceline to Boston Legal.
This book is a great story from the opening to the last word. It not only shortened my commute considerably but it brought me to work smiling. It is not a book about Star Trek but a book about life. A truly interesting life of someone who has seen the evolution of entertainment and has tried all channels to be creative. It is a great read and like the others who have posted so far a 5 out of 5.
"Bryson does it again"
So now I know where "Barking Mad" comes from and why we "sleep tight". Mr. Bryson yet again digs deep and blends history, science, philosophy and psychology into this wonderful entertaining book on how we got to the point today on how we live. I am so glad that Bill reads how own book. His tone and articlulation provides the proper sense of irony when needed.
Although some parts did make me squeamish (19th century surgery), I think it provides an excellent view of where our roots of “Home” comes from.
Thanks for the research, and the story. My only regret is that I’ve finished it (and all his books) and will have to wait another few years for his next book.
"The American History I did not learn in School"
This was my summer listening book. There are a lot of hours of relevant interesting perspective of the United States. It is the history I did not learn in school given the liberal biasing I was taught. This book had me in tears as it covered Sept 11th...This book made me proud to be an American. Biased, yes but we need this book to counter the other biased history books out there. Well spoken, well covered, well done!
"Life, Faith and people"
Truly great books are written from the heart with experience on he subject. Mitch Albom does both in this wonderfully written book. It is a heartfelt story of life, faith and people. It makes you think and if you don't have a tear in you eyes in the end, you weren't listening.
Mr. Albom is the only person who could have narrated this story. It is done wonderfully. You can hear the passion and love in his voice.
Best book I've listened to in years.
"Excellent if you like history and business"
This book is excellent. As this book provides the color of the 1900 - 1920's in Boston, it provides an entertaining account of the flawed optimist Charles Ponzi rags to riches to rags story. Nicely written and well read.
"Excellent Book"
I listened to this book back in 2004. It is excellent. Futuristic, semtimental, exciting. Touchs the heart especially if you have a child.
"Reader Beware: Mixed with a political agenda"
I thought I was downloading an American history book. Had the author left out his current political opinions by using this book as a soap box to move his political agenda, the book would have been excellent.
"Excellent Listen"
Woodward does it again. Excellent book. Shows the great president George W really is: Hard decisions and focus.
"A little old but worth the read"
God bless Rush to give the alternate view in a positive way.
