Now here at last, is McCourt's long-awaited audiobook about how his thirty-year teaching career shaped his second act as a writer. Teacher Man is also an urgent tribute to teachers everywhere. In bold and spirited prose featuring his irreverent wit and heartbreaking honesty, McCourt records the trials, triumphs, and surprises he faces in public high schools around New York City.

Mark says: "Fun, quick, well done!"
    "A bit whiny"
    Overall

I still love Frank McCourt's reading, but he seems to have found a forum for complaining in this book...I don't feel any sense of direction, we move back and forward in time, but through it all he has a lot to gripe about. In Angela's Ashes especially there was no hint of this. I do appreciate that he sheds light on how demanding a profession teaching is. Having trouble getting through the book because often I don't want to listen to his negativity.

Bob Dylan's Chronicles: Volume One explores the critical junctions in his life and career. Through Dylan's eyes and open mind, we see Greenwich Village, circa 1961, when he first arrives in Manhattan. Dylan's New York is a magical city of possibilities: smoky, nightlong parties; literary awakenings; transient loves and unbreakable friendships. Elegiac observations are punctuated by jabs of memories, penetrating and tough.

Gerry A. Brown says: "Positively 4th Street"
    "Fascinating glimpse"
    Overall

into the mind of a creative artist. Dylan describes the unfolding of his career, as well as his artistic process. If you love Dylan's music, you'll want this book! Sean Penn does a fine job reading. I for one will be waiting eagerly for Volume Two.

Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and the Congressional Gold Medal, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel offers an unforgettable account of Hitler's horrific reign of terror in Night. This definitive edition features a new translation from the original French by Wiesel's wife and frequent translator, Marion Wiesel.

Wiesel simply tells the horrifying facts, and we need this information so that we can begin to understand the Holocaust. I was never bored or emotionally overwhelmed listening to this book--just completely engaged. The reader is familiar to me and one of my favorites.

But from his wife, Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence, with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports Jamie's death, along with his kin.
