"A Joyous Realm"
I was intreged by the trailer for the recent motion picture and thought of reading the book prior to seeing the movie. It is truly thought provoking and great from start to finish. The reader is a delight. I am now in search of more of Somerset Maugham's works.
"Great, but..."
If this book even sounds remotely interesting you will enjoy it immensely. Even though I just got through reading the book I wanted to hear the story read by the author. I sat in my car a few times until he came to a good stopping place I was so enthralled. Most stories that you know how they end are anti-climatic but this one is great the whole way through. My only regret--Why in the world do they have to abridge books? There were two portions of the book which I underlined and re-read many times. These parts were abridged from the reading. Aaron is amazing for other things than just his ability to cut off his arm. Listen to it and if you enjoy it also get the book and re-read it unabridged.
"Classic"
I really enjoyed the different voices used by the narrator. It was more than just read. I checked out this book from the local library but needed it in my collection. This is one reason I signed up with audible.com
