  • Fishing on the Edge: The Mike Iaconelli Story

With his colorful tattoos and booming hip-hop sound track, Mike Iaconelli has turned the world of big-money competitive bass fishing upside down. In Fishing on the Edge, Iaconelli tells his own story, and it's a whopper: a Philly-born, Jersey-bred Yankee who's been stealing the spotlight from bass fishing's traditionally all-Southern anglers, attracting fans and dominating one of the fastest-growing sports in America.

Whoa! A maverick fisherman. Does it get any more exciting than that? What's next? A book about those crazy maniacs on the pro bowlers tour?

  • 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America (And Al Franken is #37)

    • Narrated By Bernard Goldberg

    Story

Bernard Goldberg takes dead aim at the America Bashers (the cultural elites who look down their snobby noses at "ordinary" Americans and detest so much of what this country is about); the Hollywood Blowhards (incredibly ditzy celebrities who think they're smart just because they're famous); the TV Schlockmeisters (including the one whose show has been compared to a churning mass of maggots devouring rotten meat); the Intellectual Thugs, and many more.

Marc says: "Some good points (really), kinda partisan."
    "What a knucklehead"
    Overall

There are a few conservitives whose opinions make sense. Bernard Goldberg isn't among those. For those close-minded conservitives here's some more garbage that you "already know is true". For the rest of you with a heart and a brain, listen to this and thank God (yours) that you're not in that camp.

  • Lost in the Amazon: The True Story of Five Men and Their Desperate Battle for Survival

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Stephen Kirkpatrick
    • Narrated By Kevin King

    Story

In 1995, Stephen Kirkpatrick joined a five-man expedition into the remote jungles of the Peruvian Amazon. Kirkpatrick's assignment was to document an area of the rainforest that had never before been photographed, or by most accounts, ever explored by white men. Within hours of their departure, an inaccurate map and a series of bad decisions leave the group hopelessly lost in the depths of the Amazon jungle.

    "Great story, annoying reader."
    Overall

This is a very entertaining edge-of-your-seat story. Unfortunately, Kevin King, the narrator, does a terrible job reading it. His "accents" are pathetic, to say the least (and probably offensive to many). I could be wrong, maybe everyone on that expedition was an idiot with a lisp. I doubt it.
