This was a fun, easy listen. I've enjoyed both books in this series so far. If you are looking for a literary masterpiece, this probably isn't it, but if you are looking for a story that easily keeps your interest and gives you a laugh or two, you've found it. Narrator was great, too!
The story was another great addition, but the narrator ruined it. I had read all the reviews complaining about this narrator but hated to leave this one out of my collection and thought, "how bad could it be". The answer is, pretty bad! Jenks sounds like Tinkerbell, her pronunciation of many of the names, as well as several other irritating mispronunciations, and the accents of most of the other characters were painful to listen to. Maybe miss Bermingham should have listened to some of the other books in the series before she took on this challenge. I definitely won't be listening to this one a second time. I will stick to the written version of this book in the future!
This is not my usual type of book, but I bought it when it was on sale and it sounded mildly interesting. I was also looking for something longer that had good reviews. This story fit the bill perfectly.
I was hooked from the first. Each character was very well-developed and the narrator gave each of them a distinct personality that was recognizable throughout the story.
I loved that it wove so many characters into the single story line that wound itself together in a way that continually surprised the listener. The story never became unbelievable and the descriptions of both people and places were incredibly detailed without being overdone.
I would most definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a more intense, in-depth story that you can really immerse yourself in. It is, by no means, a light read, but it is not heavy and depressing. You won't be sorry for spending your credit on this one!
I would absolutely recommend this book, but only if you are looking for a story that you can really get into. It has richly developed characters and storylines within storylines. It is well-written and researched, blending fact and fiction flawlessly.
I began reading this series when it first came out and purchased the audiobooks because I enjoyed it so much. I was not disappointed. The narrator is wonderful and does a fantastic job with all of the different accents and characters, giving each of them a distinct, recognizable voice.
If you are looking for an intelligent, fun read, this is definitely worth the credit!
I'll admit that it took me a while to get into this book, but after about the first half of the first part, I couldn't stop listening! The characters were well-rounded and the narrator did a fantastic job of giving each of them their own distinct personality. The story-line was very complex without being too over-complicated. I loved all the little tidbits that helped immerse the reader in the daily lives of the characters without dragging it out and over-doing it.
If you are looking for an interesting, intelligent, fun read, this is it!
