  • Right Turns: Unconventional Lessons From a Controversial Life

Michael Medved is an orthodox Jew whose popular radio show is a favorite with evangelical Christians. As a nationally syndicated movie reviewer he made headlines with a controversial book titled Hollywood vs. America. He is a fervent and committed conservative who once worked 18-hour days in Bobby Kennedy's presidential campaign. And he counts among his friends both Rush Limbaugh and Hillary Clinton. He is a unique man, with a unique story to tell.

Christopher says: "One man's quirky journey through life"
    "Love the personal touch"
    Overall

This was one of the best personal stories I have ever read. Medved appeals to the heart and mind of the INDIVIDUAL, and I felt like he was speaking to me, personally. I can imagine that many others felt this way as well.

This is a special kind of artistry, and the story should appeal to people of various political stripes.

  • Inside the Mind of Unchurched Harry and Mary: How to Reach Friends and Family Who Avoid God and the Church

Inside the Mind of Unchurched Harry and Mary isn’t a book of theory. It’s an action plan to help you relate the message of Christ to the people you work around, live with, and call your friends. Using personal experiences, humor, compelling stories, biblical illustrations, and the latest research, Lee Strobel helps you to understand non-Christians and what motivates them.

What did you like best about this story?

Lee Strobel has been a favorite of mine since I read his Case for Christ, Case for Faith, and Case for a creator book several years ago. Recently I found and read Case for thr Real Jesus. This book, although different in tone and focus shares that quality of excellence I have come to expect from mister Strobel. His insight, suggestions and warnings about pitfalls to avoid were helpful to me, who is actively trying to grow an old and dying church in my area.

How could the performance have been better?

As good as the content of the book was, I could only listen for a few minutes at the time. At age 10, my children could read better than this narrator. Additionally, the man's voice is like nails on a chalk board. After 10 or 15 minutes of listening to him, I get an urge to kick a small animal.

The solution is I will buy a print copy, and note this fellow's name so I am not in a position to hear him again--EVER.

  • The Jesus You Can't Ignore: What You Must Learn from the Bold Confrontations of Christ

Best-selling author John MacArthur gives readers a fresh look at how Jesus addressed attacks against the truth. Meek and mild. Politically correct. A great teacher. These are the popular depictions of Jesus. But they aren't the complete picture. Maybe because it's uncomfortable, or maybe because it's inconvenient, Christians and non-Christians alike are overlooking the fierceness of the Savior, His passionate mission to make the Gospel clear and bring people into the Kingdom of God.

Would you listen to The Jesus You Can't Ignore again? Why?

This is a book I will undoubtedly read several times. As a student of Apostolic Doctrine, I have bookmarked several key points. My only regret is that this is an abridged version and I cannot locate the unabridged one, or I would buy that as well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Jesus You Can't Ignore?

Many people in this post-modern era rewrite history and create their own Jesus. This book reminds us that their was a confrontational (but not belligerent) side to Christ. I mean, the authorities of His day had reasons to kill Him, and it's not because the Lord baked them cookies.

    Any additional comments?

Although I have never cared much for John MacArthur, he really knocks this one out of the park.

  • The Bubble of American Supremacy: Correcting the Misuse of American Power

Long known as "the world's only private citizen with a foreign policy", George Soros combines his razor-sharp sense of economic trends with his passionate advocacy for open societies and decency in world politics to come up with a workable, and severely critical, analysis of the Bush administration's overreaching, militaristic foreign policy.

William says: "Great perspective, solid facts"
    "Sorely lacking"
    Overall

If I could rate this lower than 1, I would gladly do it.

Soros must have been born twins because no one person could be this dumb. Reading the cover of the title wastes 5 seconds of your life.

the qestion one is left with is "If you hate America this much, why not move?"

  • Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism

In a stunning follow-up to her number one best seller Slander, leading conservative pundit Ann Coulter contends that liberals have been wrong on every foreign policy issue, from the fight against Communism at home and abroad, the Nixon and the Clinton presidencies, and the struggle with the Soviet empire right up to today's war on terrorism.

    Mark says: "A bizarre phenomenon"
    "Ann Does it Again!"
    Overall

Just when you thought you knew how BAD Democrats and Liberals were, Ann Coulter shows us that they're worse than we thought, and have been for some time.

Unfortunately, the Liberals and Democrats won't get half as angry over this as they should, because you need an IQ in the double digits to comprehend all the nuances.

I spent the first half of the book wide-eyed as Ann revealed the perfidy of Democrats who have since been cleansed by nostalgia and revisionism--chief among the FDR and Harry Truman, who I once thought of as merely a lovable dope.

This should be required reading in any Political Science OR Journalism course, but of course, it won't be. I want to place an order for Coulter's next book right NOW!!
