After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Cuckoo's Calling to be better than the print version?

I loved listening to this book because it was read by someone with an English accent. Since it is set in London, the accent made it feel more authentic somehow.

What did you like best about this story?

I have not read JK Rowling because I don't like fantasy but this book blew me away! The character development was first rate and it was extremely well written. I LOVED the two main characters. I can't wait for the next book!

Which character – as performed by Robert Glenister – was your favorite?

    The PI.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes if I could have.

    Any additional comments?

This book sets a high bar for suspense novels!

  • The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business

At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, raising exceptional children, becoming more productive, building revolutionary companies and social movements, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. Habits aren’t destiny. As Charles Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

Mehra says: "Nice! A guide on how to change"

Would you try another book from Charles Duhigg and/or Mike Chamberlain?

I may read another book by these authors; it totally depends on the subject.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This was nonfiction. It did have a lot of interesting research and information about habits. I would have given it a 3.5 if there was such a rating.

What aspect of Mike Chamberlain’s performance would you have changed?

Didn't is pronounced didn't, not didint. Wouldn't is pronounced wouldn't not wouldint. Narrator had a stilted style but it wasn't annoying except for pronunciation of contractions.

Could you see The Power of Habit being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No

    Any additional comments?

Good book with lots of interesting info.

More than a million listeners have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln, the can't-stop-listening work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy—and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you a baby boomer, you will love this book. I thought the authors provided us with a balanced, fascinating view of the Kennedy presidency.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

We all know the end of the story but it was still incredibly moving and sad.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book is too contrived and silly. Just plain silly. The author attempts a combination of horror and sci fi but it just didn't work for me. There are a lot of REALLY good books out there and this is not one of them. I was sucked into it by the reviews.

What could Peter Clines have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Based on this book, I will not read another Peter Clines book.

What aspect of Ray Porter’s performance would you have changed?

The performance was well done but alas the story was not.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.

If you could sum up Down River in three words, what would they be?

    A great read!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It's been a while since I read it but it was well written and the character development was very good!
