It has been a year of change since Gemma Doyle arrived at the foreboding Spence Academy. Her mother murdered, her father a laudanum addict, Gemma has relied on an unsuspected strength to turn catty schoolgirls into loyal friends, and has discovered an ability to travel to an enchanted world called the realms, where dark magic runs wild.

Would you listen to The Sweet Far Thing again? Why?

Yes, I think this is one of the best narrators I have heard yet. She engages you in the text and makes it a very pleasurable story experience.

Would you be willing to try another book from Libba Bray? Why or why not?

I have listened to all three of the books in this trilogy. I haven't thought of myself as a fan of fantasy, but her characters are well developed. Yes, I would probably read another book by this author.

Have you listened to any of Josephine Bailey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is the first group of novels I have listened to with this narrator.

    Any additional comments?

I love the plot of this, but I was a little troubled by the character of Pippa when she took on a Christ like persona. There were also some references to lesbianism. This is just a heads up for other readers.
