Since the death of his first wife, Godric St. John has devoted his nights to protecting the innocent of London disguised as the notorious Ghost of St. Giles. When Lord Griffin Reading discovers Godric's secret double life he presents him with an offer he can't refuse, and Godric finds himself married to a young - and pregnant - stranger. Two years ago Lady Margaret "Megs" Reading lost both her lover and her unborn child - but not before being forced into a marriage of convenience with Godric St. John....

What did you like best about Lord of Darkness? What did you like least?

The story itself was great. Have enjoyed the Maiden Lane tremendously so far, with fine performances by the previous narrator Ashford McNab. Well-written characters, emotionally engaging. Unfortunately Emma Taylor frequently annoyed with her appalling attempts at an English accent (hearing her ludicrous pronunciation of "lassie snatchers" nearly drove me to stop listening on a number of occasions).

Would you be willing to try another one of Emma Taylor’s performances?

Unlikely, but especially not if she's attempting English accents.

Was Lord of Darkness worth the listening time?

Debatable - probably would have been better if I just read the book instead.

Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Dain, is big, bad, and dangerous to know. No respectable woman would have anything to do with the "Bane and Blight of the Ballisters", and he wants nothing to do with respectable women. He's determined to continue doing what he does best - sin and sin again - and all's going swimmingly…until the day a shop door opens and she walks in.

Would you listen to Lord of Scoundrels again? Why?

Yes - loved the book when I read it a few years ago and have been waiting for the audio version ever since. It did not disappoint. Enjoyed it soooo much.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Both Sebastian and Jessica - Sebastian for his vulnerability, Jessica for her fearlessness, and both for their intelligence, maturity and humour. But especially for their relationship.

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading – was your favorite?

Just about all of them! A very talented narrator - all voices clearly distinguishable, great accents etc.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Sebatian rescues his son, Dominic. Also Jessica's and Sebastian's first encounter in the curio shop.

    Any additional comments?

    Just loved it. Read it!

What made the experience of listening to Proof by Seduction the most enjoyable?

Great story and great narration. Full of exchanges between characters with much emotional impact (not just romantic, but also of friendship, compassion, etc). The allusion to one of the main secondary character's depression was also moving - and unusual for an historical romance. The narrator struck the right note throughout the production.

    Any additional comments?

Well worth a credit, as well as the time spent listening to it. Recommend it highly, and now look forward to reading the "sequel", Trial by Desire.
