The story itself was great. Have enjoyed the Maiden Lane tremendously so far, with fine performances by the previous narrator Ashford McNab. Well-written characters, emotionally engaging. Unfortunately Emma Taylor frequently annoyed with her appalling attempts at an English accent (hearing her ludicrous pronunciation of "lassie snatchers" nearly drove me to stop listening on a number of occasions).
Unlikely, but especially not if she's attempting English accents.
Debatable - probably would have been better if I just read the book instead.
Yes - loved the book when I read it a few years ago and have been waiting for the audio version ever since. It did not disappoint. Enjoyed it soooo much.
Both Sebastian and Jessica - Sebastian for his vulnerability, Jessica for her fearlessness, and both for their intelligence, maturity and humour. But especially for their relationship.
Just about all of them! A very talented narrator - all voices clearly distinguishable, great accents etc.
When Sebatian rescues his son, Dominic. Also Jessica's and Sebastian's first encounter in the curio shop.
Just loved it. Read it!
Great story and great narration. Full of exchanges between characters with much emotional impact (not just romantic, but also of friendship, compassion, etc). The allusion to one of the main secondary character's depression was also moving - and unusual for an historical romance. The narrator struck the right note throughout the production.
Well worth a credit, as well as the time spent listening to it. Recommend it highly, and now look forward to reading the "sequel", Trial by Desire.
