Joshua Jordan’s new weapons defense system will secure America against an array of new enemies, including a nuclear strike on New York City by North Korea. But global forces are mounting and corrupt government leaders will go to any extreme to prevent an impending economic catastrophe. As world events begin setting the stage for the “end of days” foretold in Revelation, Jordan must weigh the personal price he must pay to save the nation he loves.

Following on another reviewer's comments. Bought this in an Audible series promotion. Just wanted an escapist thriller and quickly found myself listening to a set up for the second coming of Christ. Would never have bought this if I had known what it really was. Stopped listening when I realized and checked the reader reviews. Audible should list it in their faith novels and let people know. Unfortunately, I got sucked into the sale and didn't take time to read a review of this book before I purchased it. I loathe phoney faith books.

When the body of an American archaeologist is found floating in the Yangzi River, Ministry of Public Security agent Liu Hulan and her husband, American attorney David Stark, are dispatched to Site 518 to investigate. As Hulan scrutinizes this death—or is it a murder?—David, on behalf of the National Relics Bureau, tries to discover who has stolen from the site an artifact that may prove to the world China’s claim that it is the oldest uninterrupted civilization on earth.

Janice says: "Best of the Hulan Series... EXCELLENT!"
"Good Thriller - keeps you going"
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Interesting concept using two detectives of different nationalities, who love each other, but have to deal with restrictions and blockages of the Chinese government. New approach to political interventions in crime.

    Any additional comments?

Well written. A good story which gives you additional things to think about.

  • The Count of Monte Cristo

    • UNABRIDGED (47 hrs)
    • By Alexandre Dumas
    • Narrated By John Lee

Dashing young Edmond Dantès has everything: a fine reputation, an appointment as captain of a ship, and the heart of a beautiful woman. But his perfect life is shattered when three jealous friends conspire to destroy him. Falsely accused of a political crime, Dantès is locked away for life in the infamous Chateau d'If prison. But it is there that Dantès learns of a vast hidden treasure.

Would you listen to The Count of Monte Cristo again? Why?

It's a good story, fast paced with great characters. This is a fun escape. Keeps you going. Rich language and descriptions. Wronged man escapes island prison hell, finds fabulous treasures, lives incredible life-style, rescues victims, revenge against bad guys.

Who was your favorite character and why?

One of my favorite characters was the paralyzed grandfather. He can only move his eyes, but speaks with them in signals to his grand-daughter. But he is a power figure with a secret and saves his grand-daughter. Don't want to spoil it, but it's very imaginative. First described as helpless, but then . . .

What does John Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Excellent reader. Wonderful voice, a pleasure to listen to. The florid language and descriptions flow. Excellent pronunciation. All the characters are presented with accents appropriate to their nationality and background. Great vocal characterization. Keeps up the pace of the story and carries you along.

    Any additional comments?

This is the bedtime story that will keep you awake and listening longer, make you forget you're waiting too long wherever you're stuck. Just relax, unwind and have some listening fun.
