  • Molecules of Emotion: Why You Feel the Way You Feel

    • ABRIDGED (3 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Candace B. Pert
    • Narrated By Candace B. Pert

How do our thoughts and emotions affect our health? Are our bodies and minds distinct from one another, or do they function together as parts of an interconnected system? Neuroscientist Candace Pert provides startling and decisive answers to these and other challenging questions that scientists and philosophers have pondered for centuries. She explains the scientific basis of popular wisdom and phenomena like "gut feelings" and makes comprehensible recent discoveries in cancer and AIDS research.

    Pauline says: "Unbelievable Discoveries"
    "A great read"

I have to agree with the earlier review, very enjoyable book. Good science, good story, good sense of humor.

  • Alex Cross, Run

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By James Patterson
    • Narrated By Michael Boatman, Steven Boyer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Top plastic surgeon Elijah Creem is renowned for his skills in the operating room, and for his wild, no-expense-spared "industry parties", bringing in underage exotic dancers and models for nights of drugs, champagne, and uninhibited sex. That is, until Detective Alex Cross busts one of Creem's lavish soirees and ruins his fun. Now Creem is willing to do anything to avoid going to jail. But Alex doesn't have time to dwell on that case. A beautiful woman has been found murdered in her car, a lock of her hair viciously ripped off. Then a second woman is found hanging from a sixth-floor window with a brutal scar slashed across her stomach....

    Cris says: "Ugh!"
"Cross's personal life is as boring as ever"
If you could sum up Alex Cross, Run in three words, what would they be?

    great bad guys

    Any additional comments?

Always good crime stories, and great villains. But Alex is a boor. He is continuously doing stupid predictable things that complicate his work and annoy at least one reader.

  • The Wind Through the Keyhole: The Dark Tower

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 29 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Stephen King
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

Amazon Customer says: "An exceptional story, but I miss George Guidall."
    "The Wheel Turns"
What made the experience of listening to The Wind Through the Keyhole the most enjoyable?

Revisiting and learning more about an old friend, Roland of Gillead. And I always love it when King reads his own works, he is a great story teller.

  • Penthouse: Between the Sheets - A Collection of Erotic Bedtime Stories

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By The Editors of Penthouse Magazine
    • Narrated By Alison Valentine, Clarissa Knightly, Libby Kimball
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Is it any wonder that the world's top writers of erotic fiction have found a home in the world's number-one magazine of erotic entertainment? Now, from the pages of Penthouse, come 36 torrid tales that give new meaning to the words "bedtime stories."

    Michael says: "Wow!"

I enjoyed it. Some of the stories were eye-rolling boring but some were quite good. I listen to audible when I drive, and a couple of these had me eager to get home to my wife (or someone's). I like girls, and these are definitely all about girls. I especially liked the narator Alison Valentine, yummy voice. I'll definitely buy another.

  • The Devil You Know

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By Mike Carey
    • Narrated By Michael Kramer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Felix Castor used to cast out demons for a living, and London was his stomping ground. But in a time when the supernatural realm is in upheaval and spilling over into the mundane world of the living, his skills are in renewed demand. With old debts to pay, Castor is left with no choice but to accept one final, well-paying assignment: a seemingly simple exorcism.

    Jessica says: "wonderful story"
    "Pure entertainment"

Totally enjoyable read/listen. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good story in a non-traditional environment. Character development was rich and a cheeky sense of humor prevailed. The first thing I did when I finished the story was to go on-line and see if there was a series, I hope there will be.

  • State of Fear

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Michael Crichton
    • Narrated By George Wilson

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

F says: "Did I read the same book as some of you?"
"Obviously Audible disagrees with this book"

I noticed none of the positive reviews made it to the front of the list. The plot was fun, the science was credible, the characters were two dimensional -- total Crichton. Many of the reviewers sounded like characters from the book, making environmentalism an act of faith and not science. If Crichton's point was that I shouldn't trust the environmental special interests any more then I trust industry special interests -- I think he made his point. A good read. It will need a good screenwriter.

  • The Dark Tower: The Dark Tower VII

    • UNABRIDGED (28 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By George Guidall
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.

    Dawn says: "Unbelieveable"
"Epic ending for an epic tale"

Fans of the Gunslinger will not be dissapointed in this book. King's comfort and skill in telling the story of the Dark Tower continues to build. I highly recommend it. King writes for a listening audience.
