"Loved This Book!"
This is my very first Nora Roberts novel ever and I absolutely loved it. She took her time developing the characters. There is romance, humor, racial tension, class tension, southern culture, oh...and murder! Fell in love with Tucker Longstreet. The deep south has this city girl curious. Loved Tom Stechschulte's narration. Can't imagine a woman doing as fine a job as he did.
I love to cook, but I hate cutting vegetables. But while having this book in I cut too many veggies on several occasions as I prepared meals. I was so lost in the story that I could have cut veggies all day.
I highly recommend this book. Can't wait to choose the next one from her.
"Loved this book!"
Yes. It was just a realistic and pleasant story about people who I could easily know and identify with. I'd recommend it to someone who would like that in a book.
Can't think of any at the moment. I guess Waiting to Exhale, but with less drama and um...drama. The bond that women develop is impressive. We can tend to be competitive. I like the support the women gave to one another in both of these books.
Liz was my favorite. Sudden loss of her husband. An "older" women who had been concerned about being along and STILL maintained her character and turned down requests for sex by a handsome somewhat younger doctor. Even at her most vulnerable, alone state, she stayed true to her morals and character. Gotta love a strong woman who loves herself though the worst of times with class and dignity.
No. I l work from home and walk my two dogs several times a day. I listen during walks and while in my car. Can't stand commercial radio.
Just that I am about to find the next book by this author an get started right away!
"Loved it!"
Loved book one. Book two did not disappoint. Looking forward to the third installment. I am a new Nora fan and am methodically listening to all of her work. She's the best.
"I dissagree. The narration was just fine."
I was not going to purchase this book based on the reviews about the narration. However, I am a new Roberts' fan and wanted to continue to explore her work. So I purchased it and I am so glad I did. I began this one right after listening to The Witness with the female narrator. So admittedly, hearing MacLeod Andrews' voice was a downer. But after getting past his description of characters and scenes, things picked up and I "fell into" the story and didn't think again about the narration. That took all of 20 minutes into the 11 hour narration. While I think all of the women seem as though they are heavy smokers (lol) he does a great job with the reading all in all. One challenge is that I can't tell Owen and Becket's voices apart. They seem to be the same.
As for the plot, it was great. Funny and sweet. I am already listening to book two and am enjoying it. And I was so pleased to know that Andrews is the narrator on that one too. I have come to know his voice as the voice of these characters. To switch up would be a bummer. Looking forward to book 3. Hope Nora is cranking it out as I type.
Good book. Good performance!
"Such a Wonderful Story and So Beautifully Told"
I absolutely loved this book! I am very late to the party. Apparently Nora Roberts has a huge fan following and has had it for some time. I'm not sure where I've been but this is only my second book from her and the first was just finished a week ago.
The story was sweet, and intelligent enough not to be "mushy". Can't wait to finish this review so that I can move on to my next Roberts' book.
"Loved it!"
Yes. I would recommend it because it keeps your attention as the story unfolds.
Not really. But it did keep me interested and curious.
No.
Not really.
I just love M.H.C. and a good who-done-it. It didn't disappoint.
"I enjoyed this book and the reading."
The reader MADE this book. She embodied each character so well.
My most memorable moment was when Charity was able to
Her ability to bring emotion to the story through her voice and reading style could not have been replicated if I had just read the book.
When Charity was being prayed over at the church. Very moving.
I loved this book. I had been searching for Christian fiction for some time and for some reason this came up during my last search. I am so glad it did. I very much intend to listen to the rest of the books in the series, to find other books by this author and other books read by this reader.
