There aren't as many female characters in Terry Pratchett's writing, but the stories where there are, such as this one, are very refreshing and never fails to entertain. Whether I'm driving or in the house, I can't help but laugh, to the point that people think I've got good "prescriptions". Well, I do. It's called Terry Pratchett in Audible.
This is not a sad book, sorry to say. As always, the narration is stellar, entertaining. A must for a Terry Pratchett collection. Definitely worth the book credit or $$$.
Hogfather brings tears of joy all year round. The story crosses all ages and religions, will have you smiling from ear to ear and give you a stomachache from excessive laughter!
This book started my Gabaldon addiction. I recommend only the unabridged version and Audible certainly did a great job. Don't let the lenght discourage you. It is very witty and well written. More please!!!
I was reluctant to start this book due to the lenght of over 40 hours. Warning to all, you'd want to listen to the whole saga. Very entertaining, that hours go by and you wish there's even more. Unabridged is definitely the best version.
For years, I yearned for Star Wars audio to be added to Audible and noticed that finally, they are. The narrator is clear and conscise; sound effects are as always, "Lucas approved perfection" and James Luceno has written another great addition to the saga. For those listeners who are not avid Star Wars readers, this book is a great listen. However, people like me who have read just about every book, the abridged addition is a bit of a disappointment. The numerous characters, weapons and "other stuff" in this book can be confusing to some, since there are many but it is a definite must listen especially with the cool sound effects.
The characters are well developed; and as the story goes, just when you think you can predict the outcome, surprise, suspense, sadness and comedy will reel you in.
Although this is practically hardcore sci-fi, it's also romance and comedy at its best. It's no Danielle Steele or Nora Roberts, but instead has very strong female characters and interesting men. Ladies, I suggest that you give this listen a try, you won't regret it.
Yes, this audio book is long. But how can anyone possibly abridge the life of this legend? She's my hero, a person who was an independent female before the word feminist was coined. This audio is the kind you would listen to in segments over a few months and maybe come back to listen to over the years. It is very detailed and long, but she's had a very interesting and long life. To anyone she's inspired, famous or not, this barely touches the phenomenon we've known as Julia Child. It's worth listening to.
After listening to this audio book, I got hooked on the whole series. It doesn't matter if you've read any of the wonderful Pip & Flinx books, this audio will click. It fills you in on the characters in general, although it made more sense after I read a couple of the books. Either way, I've enjoyed listening to this audio book several times and definitely recommend it.
