this was an entertaining couple of hours, but a little SK derivative (still better than most writer's best). however, i object to audible's full credit charge for something that would have cost about the same had i paid cash. i've been a member for 4 years. shouldn't this have been a 1/2 credit listen?

WWZ is definitely the scariest book i've ever read. listening to it was disappointing only in that i knew what was being cut out. the narrators were fabulous. thinking about the 'redeker' segment is giving me chills as i write this. to the reviewers who think this book was too political: no politicians were named. if a worldwide pandemic were to occur, however, zombies or not, i guarantee the response would be very political and politics would cramp the logical response. that's the only political agenda being put forth here.

though i loved 'oryx and crake' i was a little hesitant about listening to 'the year of the flood' -- rather than reading it -- because of all the negative comments about the singing. now, a week after finishing this book, i find myself remembering the songs. i think they drew me deeper into the strange world of the god's gardeners. and the lyrics, by margaret atwood, of course, were clever and funny. i had to force myself not to finish 'the year of the flood' too quickly. i enjoyed it as much as i had 'oryx and crake.'

written in 1954, i'm sure this is a treatise on the individual versus the collective and communism -- or even the reverse, mccathyism. as a work of pure horror fiction, however, it's terrifying.

great for a long car ride, this one is tough to turn off when you get to work.
