"Fantastic"
The narrator was simply perfect on this one. Her voice was just beautiful to listen to. I'll be looking for other books that she's narrated next. The story was great, too. The only slight problem I had with the plot was when an incredible coincidence occurred towards the end of the book. It just wasn't believable to me. I still rate this audiobook 5 stars.
"Loved it!"
Thoroughly enjoyable read. Kept me guessing all the way through. Not the same old predictable murder story.
"Fantastic"
It took me a while to get into this book. I devoured the first 2 books in the series quickly but this one didn't initially capture me. I had to sit it down for a couple months until I was ready to try again. I was not a fan of the political commentary which seemed to drag on for too long. I just couldn't wait to get to the parts with Lisbeth. Great ending to the series. I wish there could have been a 4th book.
"Crass Language"
This book was loaded with crass/vulgar language that I found it to be distracting. If you can get past that, the actual story was somewhat good. I enjoyed the characters and I really enjoyed the last quarter of the book when it turned into more of a thriller.
"Not the best narration choice for Scarlett"
I'm finding it a bit difficult to deal with the narration on this one. Scarlett sounds like a 50 year old woman instead of a 16 year old girl. The narrator does a fine job on the male characters that I've encountered so far. I'm trodding through though and hope that I can overlook that for the rest of the book. I loved GWTW when I first read it as a teen and I'll be curious to see if I still love it this time around.
"Who was this book written for??"
The beginning was far to dark and scary for my 4 younger children (ages 2-9) but the rest of the book was too bland for my 12 year old or myself. It was like Dean Koontz wrote a few sections in a Casper the Friendly Ghost book. I think it would have been a fine children's story if it omitted the details about the murders in the beginning. Do kids really need to visualize where the bodies were? And the section about the indigo man was pretty dark for middle readers, IMHO.
"Thought Provoking"
I don't think I've ever read a book with as interesting a character as Owen Meany. Not sure how I missed this book in my young adult life when I had gazillion hours to read. I'm thankful that it was brought to audiobook format because I otherwise might have missed it totally. So many topics were covered....religion, romance (sorta), war & literature. I was tickled at the references to some of the books I have read recently, like Tess of D'Auberville, & it made me want to read other books mentioned....which I think is pretty admirable.
"I want more"
I'm sad it's over. The narration was fantastic and the story was great. Great read!
"Loved it!"
This was an enjoyable read to me. The narrator did a great job of switching back and forth between characters.
"Eh"
This book was tortuous for me to get through. Way too verbose. Just not my thing.
