"Funny, but disappointing."
As a long fan of the Daily Show, and the Colbert Report, I was excited to see that the Daily Show team had made the book "America The Book". I downloaded the audio and have since listened to it dozens of times. I was, is, and always will be, overwhelmingly funny. So when I saw that Colbert had released his own version of a comedic audiobook, I didn't hesitate. To be fair, the book is entertaining, more entertaining I think if you have not seen too much of the Colbert Report show. But it falls way short of the comedic genius that was "America the book". It is my opinion that the Colbert character, while funny, is best served in doses with other characters mixed in. The thing that made "America the book" so good was the collaboration of the various Daily Show comedians, Stewart, Colbert, Bee, Black, Cordery, etc. "I am america" is basically Colbert in a monologue with a few interruptions, it consists of a rehashing of much of Colberts hilarious stereotypes of a right winger into book form. If you think the Colbert Report is better than the Daily Show, this book is definitely for you, buy it now! Personally, I have always preferred the more balanced comedy that only Stewart and his team or comedic personas can create.
