"Usually like Danielle Steel but not this time"
The story was ok but it moved very slowly and not to allow development of characters or story line. The narrator was rather flat and sounded bored. Sorry but this is not one of Ms Steel's best.
"This could be the best of the highlander series!"
Our hero Adam is not always portrayed as a good guy, but this book reveals him to be much more than a "dark" character. The story, like all the books in this series, is not only interesting but has an unexpected twist at the end. The narrator is outstanding. Between his narration and the story line, the reader gets caught up in the story quickly and stays that way until the last word is read.
"Engaging Story with a twist ending"
This was my first Karen Marie Moning novel and the first narrated by Phil Gigante. The story was very engaging and moved along at a quick pace. I read some of the reviews before purchasing the book and do not agree with the reviewers who did not like the narrator. Some said he doesn't do women's voices well. I do agree their different but still distinquishable from other female voices in the story. And I'm not sure it would even been notice but for reading that review first. I think the narrator does a fine job which definitely adds to overall enjoyment of the story. I liked it so much that I've purchased the other books in the Highlander series.
"Great Story, written by a master storyteller"
Victoria Holt is a master at this genre. Her books are interesting suspenseful and easy reading. The narrator Davina Porter is wonderful. Would recommend to everyone.
"Great story, well done"
It's hard to say exactly where I rate Devel on Horseback. I can tell you it's definitely in I'd listen to it again and again.
Davina Porter is one of the best narators around. She really gives the characters their voice. I love her performances.
I read Devil on Horseback years ago when it first came out. It was a happy surprise to see it out in audio format especially performed by Davina Porter. This is a romance you can recommend to anyone without fear. Good story but not at all offensive. I recommend it to everyone.
"A good story but ..."
Before purchasing this book, I read the reviews. One in particular stood out, the reader said that the narration was often distracting because on swallowing noises. I discounted this comment because I have another book narrated by Virginia Leishman (Mrs. Dalloway) and no such distractions occur. So I bought the book. The story is a good one with a different twist. But the reviewer was right, one can hear what appear to be swallowing noises throughout the book more in some places than others. So I listened to excerpts from other books performed by Ms. Leishman and this seems to be an isolated case meaning perhaps she had a cold or some other problem while performing this book. I guess what I'm saying, don't disregard her other work based on this book alone. Whatever the problem it is not universal to all her work.
Now, the story is very good and even has a premise with a twist not usual in this gendre. If I had a hard copy of the book I probably enjoy the story very much.
"Entertaining Read!"
This was my first Molly Harper book. It is very entertaining. After a short way into the book, the listener begins to think the herione is a modern day version of Pauline as in "The Perils of Pauline". The narrator Amanda Ronconi does an outstanding job. Ms Ronconi gives voice not only to the main characters but all the characters in the book. Each character has his own voice which makes the listener feel as if they are sitting on the stage watching the action first hand. I will definitely look for more Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi. I recommend this one enthusiastically.
"The Entire Series is a great high quality read!"
This is a great story line done with wit and orgaization. The stories build one on the other. There are many characters but keeping them straight is easy due to the narrator's skill. Johanna Parker gives the characters their voice and makes the reading an entertaining time. She's so good, you will sometimes find yourself talking back to the characters. And the experience is not just with the first book but the entire series.
"Very funny...unexpectedly so"
This is a very witty book. Many times I found myself laughing outloud. A surprisingly funny character will appeal to those of us who love dogs. It is well worth the read. This was my first Elizabeth Boyle novel. At first I was taken aback by the narrator's voice but soon realized that it actually added to the wit of the story.
"Excellent and very funny"
Great story. The author has is very funny...had me laughing outloud. Well worth the read, going back for more. The narrator does a great job even with the men's voices.
"Great story, well done and read"
I've only read one other Julia Quinn before this. I really enjoyed the book and in some places laughed outloud. The heroine and indeed all the women are portrayed as strong which is not always the case in period novels. The narration is excellent. I'm going back for more Julia Quinn.
