  • Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By Rob Grant, Doug Naylor
    • Narrated By Chris Barrie

When Lister got drunk, he really got drunk! After celebrating his birthday with a Monopoly-board pub crawl around London, he came to in a burger bar on one of Saturns moons, wearing a lady's pink crimplene hat and a pair of yellow fishing waders, with no money and a passport in the name of "Emily Berkenstein". Joining the Space Corps seemed a good idea.

    Missy Hoppe says: "Finally!"
"Cut off in the middle of the story"
If you could sum up Red Dwarf in three words, what would they be?

    good but cut-off

What does Chris Barrie bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

    He was very good

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending... I guess it is a cliff hanger ending..

    Any additional comments?

The book ended in the middle of the story.. It is a very good story so if you want to listen to it you will need to buy the second book Better than life.

  • And Another Thing...: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Book 6

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Eoin Colfer
    • Narrated By Simon Jones
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Arthur Dent's accidental association with that wholly remarkable book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, has not been entirely without incident.Arthur has traveled the length, breadth, and depth of known, and unknown, space. He has stumbled forward and backward through time. He has been blown up, reassembled, cruelly imprisoned, horribly released, and colorfully insulted more than is strictly necessary.

John Williams says: "A delightful return to the H2G2 Universe"
    "Don't Panic - Just RUN!"

If you loved this series then do NOT listen to this butcher job. Douglas Adams must be turning over in his grave.
I usually actually say what I felt was wrong with the book, but it is so bad I just don't know where to begin or how to say it.
I Will just leave it at this "PANIC"

  • Inkheart

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Cornelia Funke
    • Narrated By Lynn Redgrave

Imagine it were possible to bring the characters from a book to life. Not like when you listen to an audiobook with such enchantment that the characters seem to jump off the pages and into your bedroom...but for real. Imagine they could actually climb out of the pages and into our world. Then imagine if those characters brought their world into ours.

    Cynthia Lee Reneau says: "EXCELLENT!!"
"Could not deal The Narrator's voice."

I only listened to this book for about 4 minutes. The Narrator : Lynn Redgrave's voice is so irritating to me I had to stop. I really wanted to listen... I guess I will have to wait for the movie to come out on DVD.

  • Outrageous Fortune

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Tim Scott
    • Narrated By uncredited

"Don't you hate it when this happens?" That's what the business card asks Jonny X67, dream architect to the rich and jaded. It's all the thieves who stole his house left behind. And as if that weren't bad enough, a saleswoman named Caroline E61 drops from the sky to sell him a set of encyclopedias and won't take no for an answer. Can his luck get any worse?

Rebel says: "A Fantastic Thrill Ride"
    "Not bad"

I liked it! It was a very good listen. The plot keeps you wondering what is going on and why? The characters are well developed. I do recommend this book. One word of caution. The F-bomb is dropped several times through out the story.. I started the audio book while my daughter was in the car with me and the first 3-4 words of the book are the f-bomb. Overall - Very good.

  • Wyrd Sisters: Discworld #6

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Terry Pratchett
    • Narrated By Celia Imrie
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

    Chris says: "Which Discworld?"

I have 8 other Disc World books and I am A big fan. This being said I am VERY DISAPOINTED! The Narator butchered this book beyond my point of listening. She will speak real softly forcing you to turn the volume up then do a messed up voice at 2-3 times the volume blowing up your speakers. Her charecter voices are pittiful at best. This is the first and hopefully the last time I have not finished a book.

Joey Harker isn't a hero. In fact, he's the kind of guy who gets lost in his own house. But then one day, Joey gets really lost. He walks straight out of his world and into another dimension. Joey's walk between the worlds makes him prey to two terrible forces: armies of magic and science who will do anything to harness his power to travel between dimensions.

    Gurmukh says: "A good listen"

I loved it! What a wonderful book. This is a must read/listen.

  • American Gods

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Neil Gaiman
    • Narrated By George Guidall
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

For the three years Shadow spent in prison, all he wanted was to get back to the loving arms of his wife and stay out of trouble for the rest of his life. But days before his release, he learns that his wife has been killed in an accident, and his world becomes a colder place.

Joseph says: "Amazing, powerful book about America."
    "This F-N book"

I have listened to 3 other Neil books Anansi Boys, Neverwhere and Stardust, All awesome! This book however is nothing but "F@#$ this", "F@#$ that" "I will F-N Kill you". The the F word is used way to often. I think that if you took the F word out of just the first hour of the book it would have only played for 30 min!! Way to much.. I don't mind books that use the F word but this book seems to use it for every 3rd word. Way to F-N much! Skip this book, Neil has way to many really good books.

  • Going Postal: Discworld #29

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Terry Pratchett
    • Narrated By Stephen Briggs

Arch-swindler Moist von Lipwig never believed his crimes were hanging offenses, until he found himself with a noose around his neck, dropping through a trap door, and falling into...a government job? Getting the moribund Postal Service up and running again, however, may be an impossible task. Worse, the new Postmaster could swear the mail is talking to him.

Robert W says: "Finally on AUDIBLE!!!"

It does not get any better then this. Terry has got it right! I was looking for a writer that had the same style as Douglas Adams and Terry has far exceeded my expectations! Going postal is a very funny book. Very easy and enjoyable listen. If I had to pick one thing bad about the book it would be that is was over to soon.

I have also just listened to another book by Terry Pratchett and I am now a true fan and will be buying more by this author.

The Narrator Stephen Briggs also does an outstanding job.

    I highly recommend this book.
