    Would you try another book from David Rakoff and/or David Rakoff?

    Read/listen to Fraud and Don't get too comfortable first.There is some very funny/interesting stuff here. But do not recommend it as first experience of Rackoff. Once you're hooked, get this.


    What about David Rakoff’s performance did you like?

    I wouldn't have anybody but Rackoff himself read his work. An essential part of the experience.


    Could you see Half Empty being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    Sure. American Splendor-ish.

    This is a smart guy, and somewhere in here is useful information. But _so_ much filler, so much is useless and repeated constantly. What would have been a brilliant essay is puffed up to a "business book". Try starting at Chapter 7 where the "useful" concentration goes a bit higher.

    If you're at all interested in Hitchens, listen to the stuff he narrates himself, including this. I don't get those who complain about his narration: his personal delivery is an important part of the experience, and thrilling in itself, in my view. This comment especially to those such as me who think in an American accent.

    It is surprising to me that Audible does not let you search specifically for work narrated by the author. I've suggested it it to them, and it would be incredibly easy to implement. There must be others who would appreciate such a function. Audible will have observed that in-person readings by the author can be well attended. If you agree, please write to Audible as well.

    Based on other reviews here, I imagined something along the lines of Richard Branson's autobigraphy which I loved. Nothing like it. This, is ghost written, highly repetitious and boring. There is revealed nothing that one could considered "unreasonable" in any sense of the word. Indeed, no actual content as far as I could tell. It's a shame since this man's life should have been an interesting story. It remains for someone else to write it.
