Daniel Silva is absolutely and wonderfully addictive. Reading him is little eating candy it's that good. I have been totally taken by his hero, Gabriel Allon, since the first of the series. I am just delighted that Simon Vance is now -at long last! - narrating. Till now, I read Daniel Silva's books because I didn't like the narrator. Now, I can listen to Simon Vance read one of my favorite spy novels' writer.

Just, just wonderful. All of it. The story, the narration, the writing. Then again, Simon Vance could read the telephone book and I would listen. As for Deon Meyer, he is a very clever, informed, psychologically astute writer. All his books are great and all read by Simon Vance. You don't get better than that.

The end was horrible. And endless preaching speech by a would be pope/messiah.
Too bad really because 3/4 of the book were really, really good. It was a huge let down.
A chance George Guidall was narrating -one of the best narrators there is on Audible - or I would have stopped when the Jesus preaching began.

The story is really good and David Thorpe, the narrator is good until he makes up different voices. Unlike, say, brilliant narrators such as Simon Prebble or Simon Vance or George Guidall, David Thorpe is really bad at doing voices. He should stick to his own voice, which is rather good and stop trying to modify it. It's so bad that it really gets in the way of the story, and that's sad because there is nothing wrong with just reading with one's own voice.
