Welcome to Harborsmouth, where monsters walk the streets unseen by humans...except those with second sight, like Ivy Granger. Ivy Granger's second sight is finally giving her life purpose. Ivy and her best friend Jinx may not be raking in the dough, but their psychic detective agency pays the bills - most of the time. Their only worry is the boredom of a slow day and the occasional crazy client - until a demon walks through their door. Demons are never a good sign.

I feel like I'm being read a story by a well intentioned volunteer at the children's section of the library. I'm always on board for a psychic detective and really wanted to like this one but I'm not sure I'm going to make it to the end. Outside of some verbiage this story seems to be more appropriate for middle schoolers.

As an epic nor'easter bears down on the idyllic island town of Eastport, Maine, Jacobia Tiptree hurries to prepare her antique house for the big blow, while the town battles to evacuate tourists and save the beloved 200-year-old Seaman's Church steeple, threatened by the storm. But when a local teen beauty-pageant winner from a troubled family is found murdered in the steeple's bell tower and Jake's son Sam's visiting childhood friend comes under scrutiny as a suspect, the resulting storm of gossip and suspicion rivals anything the Atlantic could brew up.

At first listen her stories seem like they might be too cozy but there are always enough twists, painful human cruelty and family/town back story to keep it interesting and me wanting more. Thank you Sarah!

Vampire and thief Raylene Pendle doesn’t need more complications in her life. Her Seattle home is already overrun by a band of misfits, including Ian Stott, a blind vampire, and Adrian deJesus, an ex–Navy SEAL/drag queen. But Raylene still can’t resist an old pal’s request: seek out and steal a bizarre set of artifacts. Also on the hunt is a brilliant but certifiably crazy sorceress determined to stomp anyone who gets in her way.

My name is Amelia Gray. I'm a cemetery restorer who sees ghosts. In order to protect myself from the parasitic nature of the dead, I've always held fast to these rules passed down from my father…until now. Detective John Devlin needs my help to find a killer, but he is haunted by ghosts who shadow his every move. To warn him would be to invite them into my life. I've vowed to keep my distance, but the pull of his magnetism grows ever stronger even as the headstone symbols lead me closer to truth and to the gossamer veil that separates this world from the next.

The narration was lovely! The story premise was good but a little slow paced for me. I look forward to the next book in hopes that it picks up a bit.

I could die today, and it wouldn't matter. I'd still wake up tomorrow. Some people might consider that a good thing, and the time I took my first bullet, well, I can't say I complained when I woke up, but that's the middle of the story. At first I didn't want this "gift" which led me to a long search for my father. I thought he could help me. Turns out my father was in prison, and I just happened to get on the bad side of his warden-a huge, cyborg type of guy who could body double for Sylvester Stallone.

The Audible app doesn't clearly reference the romance titles. I thought this would be more Sci Fi less 'gettin busy'.

Startling, unusual, and yet irresistably readable, Among Others is at once the compelling story of a young woman struggling to escape a troubled childhood, a brilliant diary of first encounters with the great novels of modern fantasy and SF, and a spellbinding tale of escape from ancient enchantment.

It's rare that I don't get through a book. I can't give an honest review of the story because of the narration. I appreciate a good thick accent but this was missing changes of inflection or something. It was just difficult for me to listen to long enough to really invest in the story.
