"For Me Was a New and Marvelous Experience."
I don't have any experience reading the Lois Lowry book: The Giver; for that reason I prefer don't express my opinion about the book. I would like to read it; in a future opportunity. On the other hand, I had listened the audible version and I recognize that have a great performance. I am an English student and I know that my natal language, the Spanish, if pretty different and I need more listening practice, but I can recommend to the other students that need to prepare their assessments to use this audible version, only need to take time for listening more than one time, if you are a beginner like me, in the class of Speech/Listening.
I have a lot of memories about this story, but my preferred part was when Jonas ask to the Giver, how can I called you? - and the giver had answered only - call me the Giver, hedeposits in Jonas an enormous responsibility to keep all the bad and great memories of theirentire Community. The unforgettable moments in the relationship between the Giver and Jonas was when the Giver mentioned the name of his daughter Rosemary and Jonas was pretty surprised because he never before was mentioned that he was a daughter. The Giver had only mentioned to Jonas, that he had a wife. The determination of Jonas to scape and save the life of his adopted "brother", when he discovered the plan that could put finish to the life of the child, and the message of hope at the end of the story, when they finally climb the hill together and can listening the music and experience the joy, the feelings, the colors of the people of the village and the majestic end of the author about that maybe was only an echo, but the last thing that we can lost if the Hope.
The voice of Ron Rifkin is great, he puts emphasis in the precise moments, only one recommendation, the music sometimes was a little high and we can lost just for a littlemoment the intensity of the drama that Jonas at his short age have experienced, but it is not a fault of Ron Rifkin, he was spectacular. On the other hand I think that the book cannot bring us the opportunity of experience the feelings that are intensified with the audio, but I would like to experience both way the reading and the listening.
In my modest opinion and in my personal experience, and because I don't have a total domain of the English language, I would like to enjoy it the listening again, but separated by chapters, only for purposes of improve the levels of comprehension, in the case of students that are looking to the reference in this book, especially, like me.
Thanks a lot for the opportunity that you have bring to me, listening this book and expanded my mind throw this experience. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you to everybody that was involved in the develop of the audible record and specially to Audible, for to make possible that I can achieve one step in my long carrier learning English.
