  • Apt Pupil

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Frank Muller

Todd Bowden is an apt pupil. Good grades, good family, a paper route. But he is about to meet a different kind of teacher: Mr. Dussander. Todd knows all about Dussander's darl past. The torture. The death. The decades-old manhunt Dussander has escaped to this day. Yet Todd doesn't want to turn him in. Todd wants to know more. Much more. He is about to learn the real meaning of power - and the seductive lure of evil.

Parusski says: "Not for the squeamish!!"
"Art Pupil - Long but enjoyable"

Like a few of Stephen King novels this book is pretty long but it tends to keep the listener interested, not wanting to skip chapters for fear of loosing their place in the story. It helps that it is narrated by the talented Frank Muller who gives the story his own special rendering. I would whole heartily recommend this one whether they are a fan King or not.

  • SEAL Warrior: Death in the Dark: Vietnam 1968-1972

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By Thomas H. Keith, J. Terry Riebling
    • Narrated By Michael Prichard
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The old battle tactics were useless for the U.S. soldiers in Vietnam, who were fighting a guerrilla war on foreign soil for the first time in American history. With the depth and honesty of Steel My Soldiers' Hearts, SEAL Warrior sheds light on the operations of the SEAL teams in Vietnam and shows how the SEALs laid the foundation for the modern guerrilla warfare that is used today.

    "Doesn't quite hit the mark"

For me this book was an OK listen but I should have realized the narrator would read it in the same monotone voice throughout as the sample clip, with no real emotion. Though there were some good stories about the war in Vietnam I think it could have been read better.

  • The Musashi Flex

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By Steve Perry
    • Narrated By Joe Barrett
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the early 23rd century, one of very few ways to rise above your caste is to become a player in the extreme martial arts game known as the Musashi Flex. Lazlo Mourn, a battle-scarred veteran, is ready to hang up his blades when his moves suddenly evolve toward a form of fighting unlike any the galaxy has seen. Journalist Cayne Sola wants the big story on the games, and not even the fiercest warrior will stop her.

Robert says: "Great fun, well worth listening"
    "Entertainning !"

The book may be a little long but Steve Perry makes it worth the time if you got time. Even though it has some 'other world' jargon it's pretty easy to understand what is implied and for me the main character and simple storyline makes it a good listen. The only thing I didn't like was that the fight scenes didn't portray any pain or emotion when someone was fatally wounded.

  • Shantaram

    • ABRIDGED (18 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By Gregory David Roberts
    • Narrated By Humphrey Bower

This mesmerizing first novel tells the epic journey of Lin, an escaped convict who flees maximum security prison in Australia to disappear into the underworld of contemporary Bombay, a hidden society of beggars and gangsters, prostitutes and holy men, actors and exiles.

    Nathan says: "Absolutely top notch"
    "Very enjoyable book"

To me this audio is a masterpiece of story telling. Narrator Humphrey Bower really brought the charactors to life, even the female ones and that is a great feat in itself. It brings great credit to Author Gregory David Roberts book. I hope he writes another one soon.

  • Dante's Inferno (Dramatised)

    • ORIGINAL (49 mins)
    • By Dante Alighieri
    • Narrated By Corin Redgrave

This original and refreshingly different dramatisation follows Dante, "lost in a dark wood", who is met by Virgil, who takes him on a tour of the underworld: a place he could end up if he decides to take his own life. Corin Redgrave is the voice of Dante.

    "Dante's Inferno"

This audible is very well narrated and keep me listening all the through without stopping!
This classic was my first - can't wait to pick another of so many titles.
