Will, Jeffrey, and Nolan are lifelong friends. Each has gone their separate ways as adults, living their own lives while forging their own careers. They have no reason to believe anything extraordinary will befall them. Until one shocking moment changes everything. Will is a part-time drummer who spends the rest of his time in recording studios. Then one night Jeffrey attempts to rob a convenience store, drags a young woman into Will’s car, and shouts a single word: "Drive!" Shaken and confused, Will obeys.

Re-read the description for this book and it doesn't say it is geared toward teenagers, but it certainly seems to be. Hoped it would come together, but got to the end of the book and still couldn't figure out a plot. Not a book I would recommend to anyone over 17.

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. "Jess and Jason," she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good? Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

There are millions of stories in the city - some magical, some tragic, others terror-filled or triumphant. Jonah Kirk’s story is all of those things as he draws listeners into his life in the city as a young boy, introducing his indomitable grandfather, also a "piano man"; his single mother, a struggling singer; and the heroes, villains, and everyday saints and sinners who make up the fabric of the metropolis in which they live - and who will change the course of Jonah’s life forever. Welcome to The City, a place of evergreen dreams where enchantment and malice entwine.

A wonderful book. It was so interesting but so sad to almost feel Alice declining and see all the things she was trying to do to just hang on. The author did a wonderful job on this book, but she didn't make a very good reader. Don't feel you could really feel the emotional aspects of the book as well as you can with other readers.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Way too long. Too many characters that didn't really seem to add to the story.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Way too many descriptive words. Really could have made the book a lot shorter... Very hard to follow at times. Kept thinking the book would get better.

What does Xe Sands and R.C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I liked having two different readers. Much easier to differentiate the characters.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not. Main theme of book seemed like a few movies I've already seen.

    Any additional comments?

    Disappointed by the book.

A serial killer watches and waits. Each time, he takes two victims, preparing the first's body with all the clues the police need to find the second, who is still alive. The clock ticks, and the second one can still be saved. But the police never make it in time. The second one dies. For years, the killer has plagued the city with the same pattern, but the police never pick up on it quickly enough.

What disappointed you about The Killing Hour?

Narrator - wouldn't get another book read by her. Also, book very predictable. I have enjoyed all of the other Lisa Gardner books I have read up until this one.

What could Lisa Gardner have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Different reader.

What didn’t you like about Anna Fields’s performance?

Made all the men sound old and very much the same.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Killing Hour?

All the love scenes. Just didn't seem to fit in the book.

    Any additional comments?

I usually thoroughly enjoy her books, but wouldn't get another book by this reader.
