Another great Asimov story. The narrator makes some strange decision in regards to accents for the characters - but he is very consistent about it which make it easy to follow who is talking at any point in time. This is a nice sci-fi story written around a mystery. This story takes place in Asimov's galactic empire and again he has set this story during the time frame of the expansion period of the galactic empire from Trantor. I like the story, it is a quick read/listen and Asimov's universe is always consistent... which is nice going from book to book. Narration is decent too.

I have never really been a big fan of Peter Pan... BUT since Jim Dale was narrating this I thought it would be a good book to listen to on long car trips with my kids (He's such an excellent narrator). What I did not expect was to actually, really enjoy the story. It was a good enough story that I actually found that I like the world of Peter Pan as envisioned by these authors. This was truly a good and fun prequel to the Peter Pan story we all know and grew up with. Jim Dale of course is excellent. Highly recommended.

I truly enjoyed this book. I really liked the fact that for a long while at the beginning of the book I didn't know what was going on and still found that I enjoyed the story and narrative.The universe the author creates is interesting and the flashbacks help bring the story into focus over time. Others have complained that there is not enough action in the story - and I admit after I was done with the book - I looked back and realized the same thing. But I still really enjoyed the read ... and getting lost in this world was fun. This was my first book by Reynolds - but will most likely not be my last. The is some hard profanity in this book although lightly used most of the time ( I estimate there were maybe 2 dozen F-Words in and 18 hour book )As for the Narrator, he does an excellent job on this book - and that may have contributed to how much I enjoyed listening to it.

This book is set in a pretty interesting world, the author is actually a fantastic story teller and the story was pretty good. BUT - there is a lot of things that made listening to this down right un-enjoyable much of the time. The dialog of the characters was too abrasive (like everyone one was an angsty teenager) and the bad language was way over done! I estimate that there is on average about 1 to 2 F-words per minute in almost every character's spoken dialog. In a book that is about 24 hours long - that's a lot of F-Words (And I haven't even guessed how many other profane words were used - so you can extrapolate it's a lot of profanity). I haven't heard this much profanity outside of a high school locker room - much less a serious book. If the bad language had been toned down this would have been a much better book. The subject matter is sometimes pretty dark and very violent. And there are parts that are just crass. The narrator, though, was really really good. He almost made the book good by himself.I probably would not recommend this book to anyone I actually know (mostly because of the language and the sometimes crass parts of the story).

I love the premise of this book and mostly agree with the philosophy contained it it... however ... IT IS WAY TOO LONG!. Ayn Rands character's thoughts and feelings are way over dramatic and have very little to do with the over-arching story. Not to mention the thoughts and feelings that some of her characters have (especially the male characters) are not realistic. Most people (especially men) are just not that subtle in their speech and mannerisms. And I would guess about 1/3 of this books could be cut out and not be missed in the least. Having said that, there are some pretty awesome parallels to today's social and political environment. It's hard to believe this was written over 50 years ago with how accurately it describes our society now...scary really. There are some pretty awesome things that happen in the book - that do not seem too far fetched or far distant for our society now. I think every student in college should read this book along with the other philosophies they are being indoctrinated with and see which philosophy wins. To be fair I agree with about 75% of what Ayn Rand is trying to say - but some of here ideas are a little too extreme for me....Still it has changed the way I see the world politically and the way I filter the media generally.

A great Asimov story with a great premise. This book puts forth a time travel / time disruption theory that Asimov touches somewhat in his Foundation series. That being that most small changes in time are eventually corrected by the sheer momentum of the progression of time. So time tends to negate the effect any changes made upstream in the down stream time line. In this story then are the group of men known as the 'eternals' - obsessed with making changes that will actually alter the course of time over the long haul - supposedly for the good of all mankind. But is it really good for mankind? fun story. Narration is sometimes very over-dramatized (which is a little distracting). BUt still a great quick read/listen.

This is classic Asimov story telling. The technology and cultural stuff is, of course, dated (having been written in the 1950's) - but the premise of the story is interesting and it's a quick read/listen. What I love about Asimov's books is his consistent universe between different books. This book takes place during the time the galactic empire is expanding from Trantor. Other books take place before and after this time - but the empire and it's history are always consistent (which is nice). The narration is good - but a little over dramatic at times - But not too distracting from the story.
