With a career spanning more than five decades, few actors are more qualified to recount the glamorous Hollywood era of the late 1940s and early 1950s than Robert Wagner. You Must Remember This is Wagner’s ode to a bygone age, to its incomparable style and how it was displayed, and to its legendary stars.

    Story

This story was perfect for us. As former Hollywood and LA residents this filled in many historical gaps. It was not your typical Hollywood memoir, but instead an insightful look back to the golden ages. Highly recommended!

Pak Jun Do is the haunted son of a lost mother - a singer “stolen” to Pyongyang - and an influential father who runs Long Tomorrows, a work camp for orphans. There the boy is given his first taste of power, picking which orphans eat first and which will be lent out for manual labor. Recognized for his loyalty and keen instincts, Jun Do comes to the attention of superiors in the state, rises in the ranks, and starts on a road from which there will be no return.

    Story

Yes this is a novel. However I could not help but come away with a new understanding of how people could come to hate us. I know the author, Adam Johnson, did his research and it shows in each vivid scene. By having the story read I was free to listen and paint each scene with my own version, very much a plus.

The characters were full and rich, brought to life by the wonderful narraters. I would encourage anyone who is the least bit curious (and has a strong stomach for the very dark nature of the book) to find out for yourselves what makes a Pulitzer Prize winning novel.

I did find it repulsive in spots, yet I could not tear myself away for too long, so intriguing were the story lines. This was an investment which continues to pay me dividends. Highly recommended!

Rod Stewart was born the working class son of a Scottish plumber in north London. Despite some early close shaves with a number of diverse career paths ranging from gravedigging to professional soccer, it was music that truly captured his heart - and he never looked back. Rod’s is an incredible life, and here - thrillingly and for the first time - he tells the entire thing, leaving no knickers under the bed. A rollicking rock ’n’ roll adventure that is at times deeply moving, this is the remarkable journey of a guy with one hell of a voice - and one hell of a head of hair.

    Story

Though fairly new to the medium of audio books, I can't imagine reading this, lugging the heavy book around.

I found the story so delightful, both in his honesty to reveal his foibles and his willingness to share his life with candor and humor.

I highly recommend it, even if you don't know his neighborhoods. I do know LA and lived above the Sunset Strip during many of his earlier years. It was like revisiting the neighborhood, only with people I'd not met, but would have liked to.

I'm only sorry I didn't save the book for my vacation.
