LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. They are each other’s last chance.

This was my first experience with this author and I was going to pass it up until I read it was about a dog. What can I say . . . a great read! I was so hooked I got to bed too late then was almost late to see my client. I will most certainly check out more of his books (along with telling all of my dog friends about it).

Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics. But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills. Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them. And David wants in. He wants Steelheart - the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father.

I don't know what it says about a woman my age who likes the YA books, but I do. This book was well-written, well-narrated and held my attention all the way through. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness. After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long.

It's hard for me to get any work done when listening to Butcher's books. A great listen. It's great to have Marsters narrating again. It was great to see Mouse again.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and for Heather Andrews, security manager at Timberwoods Mall, undoubtedly the busiest. But this Christmas, Heather has more to contend with than frazzled parents and disgruntled Santas. Angela Steinhart, a young woman who designed the mall’s spectacular holiday displays, has had a premonition that tragedy will strike on Christmas Eve. And Angela’s visions have a habit of coming true. Heather would love to dismiss the warning as holiday stress.

Sorry, but for me this story was tedious and boring. I finally quit listening, jumped to the end to make sure that at least someone got out of this story ok, then went on to another, better story. Wish that I hadn't spent my money on this.

A superintendent in the Thames River Police, William Monk is on a patrol boat near Waterloo Bridge when he and his men notice a young couple standing at the bridge railing, apparently engaged in an intense discussion. The woman waves her arms and places her hands on the man's shoulders. A caress or a push? He grasps hold of her.

First and foremost, as much as I have enjoyed Davina Porter's narrations of the earlier books, David Colacci has done an excellect job also. He knows how to narrate female voices without making them sound like idiots (like Michael Page does).

Watching Monk's life and humanity evolve and his deep love and respect for Hester is a pleasure. And, I'm glad that they've found Scuff.

What made the experience of listening to The Elusive Mrs. Pollifax the most enjoyable?

Barbara Rosenblat is an excellent narrator. She brings life to the characters and, along the way, makes you forget that all of the voices are coming from the same person. Her wide range of character voices includes believable male voices.

What other book might you compare The Elusive Mrs. Pollifax to and why?

The entire series is excellent. I wish there were more.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I've listened to this series more than once and enjoy them fully. I'm unable to list a most or least favorite seen.

    Any additional comments?

When I grow up, I'd like to be as moxie as Mrs. Pollifax.
