The characters are interesting, quirky and likeable. The narrarator's performance was great. This was the first time I listened to a Jill Mansell book, and I liked the book and the narrarator (Julie Maisey) so much that I searched for other books that had this same combination. Lots of laugh out loud moments. If you like a feel-good-listen with substance, don't hesitate to download this one!

Rumor has it that a collection of priceless ancient relics representing the Seven Deadly Sins have made their way to Boston’s North Shore. Partnered with pastry chef Lizzie Tucker, Diesel bullies and charms his way through historic Salem to track them down - and his mastermind cousin Gerewulf Grimorie. The black-haired, black-hearted Wulf is on the hunt for the relic representing gluttony. Now in a race against time, the pair soon finds out that more isn’t always better, as they battle Wulf and the first of the deadly sins.

I've NEVER laughed so much listening to a book while driving my car. I had to pull over the first several times Shirley spoke after Glo did her magic on the poor ol' gal. The narrator did a fantastic job (she's one of my two favorites) and Janet Evanovich is such a great author. I totally enjoyed this book, and immediately downloaded the second book in the series. There's magic, mystery, crime, romance, a monkey and a cat, a goofy friend (Glo), and crotchety old lady or two. I rarely listen to any audio book twice...but I think I will with this book. It was that good!

Charley Davidson isn’t your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper. She’s more of a paranormal private eye/grim reaper extraordinaire. However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth... but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason.

Once again, Darynda Jones has left me breathless, waiting for the next installment of the Charley Davidson series.

I can't go any further without saying that the narrator, Lorelei King, is absolutely fabulous, and makes me laugh over and over. Her tone, inflection and sarcasm are not lost on this listener. Had I read these books, rather than listened to them, I fear I would have missed many a laugh-out-loud opportunity!

Charley Davidson, a private investigator and police department consultant, has a tendency to get herself into some seriously messy situations. The fact that she is the "Grim Reaper" may or may not have something to do with said "mess". Her love interest is apparently the most gorgeous man imaginable, at least in the town where the two reside. What's new in Book 5 is that everyone else can now see Charley's love interest. He's out of jail and has a real job. His interest in Charley is just as intense as ever. And she's still sassy. This chick doesn't put up with much!

If you're considering whether to get this book, and you haven't read the first 4, go back and start from the beginning. They're all funny, fantastic, scary, and sexy. You won't regret it. (It isn't necessary, though. Each novel stands alone fairly well, and I don't think you'd be lost.) If you have read the first 4, you already know you'll listen to this one. . . and every other thing Darynda Jones has written, and will from now until the end of time.

Now, picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night plunges Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh. Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens. Deborah Harkness has crafted a gripping journey through a world of alchemy, time travel, and magical discoveries.

A Discovery of Witches was a wonderful story. Shadow of Night picks up right where the first book left off. I listen to audio books when I drive, and I had a really hard time turning my car off. I didn't want to stop listening, and didn't want to book to end. (Although it does have a nicely wrapped up ending.) Can hardly wait for the next one! It'll take a long time, no doubt. These are long, well thought out books. The story captivates, and the narrator does a GREAT job! (She does mispronounce a few words and names, but it's easily overlooked.) Bottom line....I love this author's writing style! Buy this book! Buy the first one, too!

Would you try another book from Anne Rice and/or Ron McLarty?

Of course! I'm a huge Anne Rice fan! And Ron McLarty did a great job narrating this book.

Would you recommend The Wolf Gift to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really. It's not quite in line with other Rice novels. It's just okay. Actually, (and I can't believe I'm saying this. Sorry, Mrs. Rice.) sometimes a bit boring.

Was The Wolf Gift worth the listening time?

It was a touching story. I don't regret having listened to it. But I don't think I'll have a second listen.

Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back in Darynda Jones' Third Grave Dead Ahead! And she’s drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the parthuman, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on.

Would you listen to Third Grave Dead Ahead again? Why?

I would listen to it again, but not while driving...that way I could write down all of the witty one liners and laugh at them over and over.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Third Grave Dead Ahead?

    **Spoiler alert**
I got the warm fuzzies when the tough motorcycle gang dudes decided that Charley was okay with them.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice inflection brings humor to the book that I may have only glanced over.

    Any additional comments?

Okay, Darynda...we're ready for your masterpiece!
