I was so happy to have found an amazing listen after a long while of duds. The story was so interesting and the narrations were spot-on. The crafting of the scene was magnificent and truly made the setting magical. I have never given 5 stars in every category, but I do not have one complaint about this book. I cannot wait to listen to more Phillipa Gregory books! Hopefully Audible continues to do her justice with the amazing narration. Ok well goodbye for now... I'm off to buy my next Gregory book!
I honestly didn't want to stop listening. It almost brought me to tears at one point! Also learned a LOT about the Iranian Revolution that toppled the Shah. Hopefully audible has other books by this author!
Amazing true life account of the Saudi princess and her life inside the kingdom. I never wanted to turn it off!
Written linearally and clearly instead of jumping ahead in time, then back in time, then ahead a little further, then back again in an unfamiliar dramatic scenario, then adding new characters and then referring to the main (?) characters with only pronouns
Started out well, and I continued to enjoy through first jump forward in time. After that blaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Terrible. Author tried way too hard to make the story "interesting".
Pretty good story of an incarcerated innocent man and his 25 year fight to be cleared of charges. Didn't really get much into the details of prison life although there were some anecdotes. Like all of a sudden he's like "I had been locked up for 14 years" and you're like oh didn't we just talk about your trial? Anyway if you're interested in true crime this is a great book for you.
If you're at all interested in the Amanda Knox case this book is for you. Sollecito recounts his time in prison along with before and after the indictment.
The characters were so well developed and the imagery he created of North Korea was amazing. Believable storyline and kept my interest up until the very end.
Great book! Highly recommend.
It is cliche, predictable, and lacks any sort of substance or plot. Basically a string of paranormal experiences with the woman screaming over and over and over. You keep hoping to hear some backstory or character development but it just never happens. How on earth was this a "NYT best seller"? This author took a boring title, threw together a male and female for the ol' "young couple in a new house", and just picked scary situations from different movies for them to be in. OMG thank goodness for the audible no questions asked return policy.
The paranormal situations in some cases were actually interesting! Why on earth didn't he develop the characters or storyline? Could have been a great haunted house story despite the cliches.
It didn't sound like the narrator could have been in any way one of the characters from the book. It sounded like grandma reading you a bedtime story.
Why did this book happen
Great characters who do nothing
Too bad. Well written for what it was but just became dull after a little while with nothing happening.
Yes- the book is very engaging
Really great story- liked how different actors voiced different characters rather than one actor trying to do all the voices. Disappointed that there are no other books written by this author. Really grabs you from the very first paragraph up through the end.
Well starting with changing the narrator would help. He was seriously acting all the "villain" characters with the same slow, meandering lisp. Hard to explain but harder to listen to.
I don't like this question. I don't know... Written a better story?
Too bad about mission flats. I really liked Defending Jacob and it's hard to believe that it came from the same author. Blah.
