"Really good series"
I guess I just like kid books. At least I never have to worry about the language. It is easy listening for the gym and makes the time go so fast.
"Liked the story, but the "F" words ruined it."
I really liked Michelle's Chronicles of Elantra series. I had high hopes for this series too. However, I find vulgar language as an attack on my senses. The same emphasis can be made with intelligent writing. I started her last series because of reviews that stated that such language was missing. I'm so sad that she has succumbed to the prevalent "now" language. I wish Audible would add content in their ratings.
"Great story but foul language of one character"
NO! I got into this series because Ms Sagara seemed to go out of her way not to use of bad language. Loved the first four books. This one was shocking to my senses. I realized that she was trying to setup a character that was uneducated and had lived under terrible conditions, but, to me, the distraction to the audio book was immense. I may never listen to another one of her books, at least not without reviews that indicate that that she has used much better ways to describe such conditions without using the "F" word in such a liberal way. Sorry MIchelle, people may talk that way, but I don't have to listen.
"Thank you "Vivian""
I just read the review from Vivian who complained there wasn't any swearing and sex never got past first base. That this is a 4+ star book without garbage "is" the reason I downloaded this and will now listen to it. I love great stories without having to flinch because of coarse and crude expressions that add nothing to the work except to irritate the inner senses. I hope it is as good as Vivian says! Love to get into new series and authors.
"Good book except for language"
A very interesting book for as far as I got. But I just could not get past all the "F" words. Wish I could see how it ends but...
"Second time as good as the first."
Bought this when it came out and loved it. Very easy listen and great for the gym. Decided to listen again and I really enjoyed it a second time. An interesting take on a fairy tale that was easy to listen and enjoy during workouts. I wish he wrote more of this type.
"Really enjoyed the book in printed form"
The story is quite interesting. I read this years ago and loved the series. However, in audio form, I found I really did not like the language. I guess that in printed form, I could skip over it, but ...
The narrator was okay, but I would have chosen different.
"Please hurry with the last two books."
I have enjoyed this series a lot, and had started over listening to the books before The Gathering Storm came out. On day one of the new release, I downloaded it, but decided to continue listening to the rest of the series, so that it would not be as long before book thirteen to be released. However, my son-in-law read this one and said he liked it even better than the other eleven. I decided to listen to it and I have to agree with him. What an incredible book! If only we didn't have to wait another couple of years to get to the conclusion. Great job, Brandon!
