  • The Great Deformation: The Corruption of Capitalism in America

    • UNABRIDGED (36 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By David Stockman
    • Narrated By William Hughes
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

David Stockman was the architect of the Reagan Revolution that was meant to restore sound money principles to the U.S. government. It failed, derailed by politics, special interests, welfare, and warfare. Stockman describes how the working of free markets and democracy has long been under threat in America and provides a surprising, nonpartisan catalog of the corrupters and defenders. His analysis shows how both liberal and neoconservative interference in markets has proved damaging and often dangerous.

Michael says: "Loads of Information but problematic writing"

There is a lot of good stuff in this book - but I found it hard to follow.
The excessive use of economic jargon left me lost in many places.

He makes many good points but the delivery is more complex and technical than it needs to be.
Perhaps for those whose who are working in the finance sector it may be Ok, but for an engineer like me - it was pretty hard going for a lot of the time.
I do however agree with his overalll conclusions:'
    - Capitalism has been taken captive by some elusive group
    - The American tax payer has been robbed greviously of over $700 billion
    - America is on the verge of financial collapse.

  • Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs

    • ABRIDGED (5 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Emerson Eggerichs
    • Narrated By Emerson Eggerichs

Successful couples know that harmony and happiness in marriage are not achieved by love alone. There is the other side of the Ephesians 5:33 equation - respect. Yes, a wife needs love. But a husband needs respect. Based on extensive biblical and scientific research, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs reveals the secret to couples meeting each other's deepest needs: Without love she reacts without respect, and without respect he reacts without love and a destructive, vicious cycle begins.

    Bogdel says: "Very Good!"

Very practical and helpful because it:
    - spleaks to real marriages not idealist fabrications
    - it distinguishes the diffent needs of men and women.

My wife recommended to me and we have both found it very helpful

Our marriage has been positively impacted by this book.

  • How the Stock Market Works

    • ORIGINAL (9 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By The Great Courses
    • Narrated By Professor Ramon P. DeGennaro

This course is an introduction to the stock market and stock investing for novices and experienced investors alike. Professor DeGennaro uses simple analogies to explain the origin of stocks and other securities, as well as their relative risks. He stresses the danger of trying to beat the market by trying to pick winners, predict price trends, or otherwise find opportunities that other investors have missed.

Lara says: "Good Info Ringed with Opinions"

I have been trading stocks for a number of years; but felt the need for some formal education, hence i bought this book.

I have gone through the first 4 chapters - but I don't plant to listen to the rest.

Typical of educational instituttions they make the simple complex instead of making the complex simple.
    - Too much waffle and time taken stating the obvious which could be said in much simpler and clear ways.
    - Instead of spending time clarifying the deceptions that are rampant on the stock market; the author takes ages stating the flaming obvious.

I would not recommend this to others.

  • The 9/11 Commission Report: Final Report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By National Commission on Terrorist Attacks
    • Narrated By Ken Borgers, Sal Giangrasso, Charlton Griffin, and others
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9-11 Commission, was created by congressional legislation and the signature of President George W. Bush in late 2002. This independent, bipartisan commission had the task of producing a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the attack, including preparedness and immediate response, and providing recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.

Louie says: "Absolutely Outstanding Historical Document"

The 9/11 commission like the Warren Commission into Kennedy's assasination served to quite the public, assign guilt to the scape goats and allow the criminals to go free. It has achieved that purpose. The Iraq war was started on false pretenses - wake up America.

The commission was either stupid or complicit in not examining evidence like:
    1) The freefall speed of the towers clearly disproved the pancake theory
    2) Where were the bits of the planes the kit the pentagon
    3) Whey did the quickly remove and dispose of the girders?
    4) The building were designed to withstand a plane crashing into them, why did thefy fall?
    5) Why was the Osama Binladen and his family escorted out of the US?

    This is discouraging listening

  • I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Norman Geisler
    • Narrated By Kate Reading

I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist argues that Christianity requires the least faith of all worldviews because it is the most reasonable. The authors lay out the evidence for truth, God, and the Bible in logical order and in a readable, non-technical, engaging style. A valuable aid to those interested in examining the reasonableness of the Christian faith, Geisler and Turek provide a firm challenge to the prior beliefs of doubters and skeptics.

Steven says: "Faith of an Atheist?"

The simplicity, clarity, profoundness and easy to listen to style makes this book a truelly excellent experience.

As an engineer and Christian I had always earned for good, solid evidence to back up my Christian experience; this book provides these solid reasons based on evidence and logical deductive reasoning.

My faith has been greatly strenghthed and my ability and willingness to defend and proclaim the Gospel has been greatly enhanced. I am so enthusiastic about the content of this book that I am seriously considering leading a small group on this book.

My second listening to this book is clarifying and consolidating the various points.

I strongly recommend this book to Christians and atheists alike.

  • Church History in Plain Language: Fourth Edition

    • UNABRIDGED (21 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Bruce L. Shelley
    • Narrated By Adam Verner

With more than 315,000 print copies sold, this is the story of the church for today’s listeners. Dr. Bruce Shelley makes church history come alive in this classic audiobook that has become not only the first choice of many laypeople and church leaders but the standard text in many college classrooms.

This audio book goes for over 20 hours. I went through the whole thing and found it very informative and worthwhile.
It is very educational and the presentation is excellent in that it does not get bogged down in detail and terminology.
Some of the history is highly disturbing - but the book does a good job of giving an detached observers overview.

I have no reservation in recommending this book.

  • Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Nabeel Qureshi
    • Narrated By Nabeel Qureshi
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Nabeel Qureshi describes his dramatic journey from Islam to Christianity, complete with friendships, investigations, and supernatural dreams along the way. Providing an intimate window into a loving Muslim home, Qureshi shares how he developed a passion for Islam before discovering, almost against his will, evidence that Jesus rose from the dead and claimed to be God. Unable to deny the arguments but not wanting to deny his family, Qureshi's inner turmoil will challenge Christians and Muslims alike.

Timothy Pauls says: "An excellent reason for the author to narrate"

This is one of the best books I have listened to.
    I recommend it highly because:
    - it is brutally honest; it does not sugar coat the conversion experience
He shares his journey "warts and all"
    - It is highly informative and educational; I learnt much about Islam
    - It is highly inspiring
    - It is well presented and enjoyable to listen to.

The author is very articulate and communicates not only observable actions but also intent and feelings on his explorative journey. I was highly engaged listening to it. There were numerous times that I was teary eyed as I associated greately with Nabeel's conversion.

    I cannot recommend it enough.

  • The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Roger Stone
    • Narrated By David Rapkin

Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of great ambition and enormous greed, both of which, in 1963, would threaten to destroy him. In the end, President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas and from the underworld and from the government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it. Political consultant, strategist, and Libertarian Roger Stone has gathered documents and used his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind. With 2013 being the fiftieth anniversary of JFK's assassination, this is the perfect time for The Man Who Killed Kennedy to be available to readers. The research and information in this book is unprecedented, and as Roger Stone lived through it, he's the perfect person to bring it to everyone's attention.

Theo Tsourdalakis says: "COMPELLING BOOK - THE CROOKS ARE IN POWER"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Highly recommended because it provides convinging evidence which shows that the Warren Commission was a complete white wash. Oswald was a distraction to prevent the real killers from being sought. The evidence is very clear in this regard.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

the book is too long to go through in one sitting

    Any additional comments?

The American people need to listen to this book and to rise up against the tyranical forces in power. This is disturbing but inaction will lead to tyrany and oppression.

The government needs to come clean.

  • Aftershock: Protect Yourself and Profit in the Next Global Financial Meltdown

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By David Wiedemer, Robert A. Wiedemer, Cindy S. Spitzer
    • Narrated By Christopher Kipiniak

While the "experts" want us to believe that all is well (or will be soon), nothing could be further from the truth. The worldwide financial crisis of 2008 and 2009 was just a sneak preview of what is to come. But for those who act quickly and correctly, there is still time to protect yourself, your family, and your business in the next global money meltdown.

David M. Weprin says: "Interesting, convincing, and well narrated advert."
What did you love best about Aftershock?

It was easy to understand and was mostly free from technical gibberish.
It painted a clear and disturbing picture which will impact on all of us.
I liked it especially in that they do not expect you to just accept their conclusion; they give you their reasoning and it is their well thought out reasing which is really valuable.
It is mostly common sense - but it helps you to see through the BS that is fed to the public which prevents a public uproar.

I found the book highly profitable. I was going to buy into the US property market; but after hearing Aftershock, I have abadoned that idea. It has also helped me see why my shares were doing poorly. The Macro picture is vital to micro investing.

The chapter about economics and new theories etc was not as engaging as the first part of the book.

What did you like best about this story?

    Not applicable

What three words best describe Christopher Kipiniak’s voice?

    The Narator was excellent

    Any additional comments?

    Well worth the time.
It could save you thousands of dollars

  • Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Todd Burpo, Lynn Vincent
    • Narrated By Dean Gallagher
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy, his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they weren’t expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the months that followed—a story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boy’s trip to heaven and back.

Jill says: "Heaven is For Real"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was interesting, engaging and also very heartwarming.

It will be heard to swallow for some people but the book is honest and does not seem exagerated or contrived - for this I was very greatfull.

It was also highly encouraging in that it produces hope and greater confidence that Jesus is real and waiting on the other side.

    I highly recommend this book
