I first noticed this book on my daughter’s reading blog and I trust her judgement most of the time when it comes to YA literature because it is her passion. She reads it,she reviews it, and she teaches it. So, I decided to read it because I hadn’t read any YA so far this year and I love fairy tales retold. Let me tell you, this is a winner. It is Cinderella meets Sci Fi/dystopian, a time far far into the future, and Popular Mechanic/Terminator. I liked it much more than I thought I would BUT was let down at the end. I thought it was too abrupt. To see what I mean you’ll have it read it for yourself and you won’t be sorry.

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare, pushing aside thoughts of Alex, pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push, push, push, like Raven taught me to do. The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too. I buried her.I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame. Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bests eller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

    Story

Pandemonium picks up right where Delirium ends in the aftermath of Lena making it to the Wilds, with Alex presumably left behind and killed. This book is composed as a series of flashbacks of her life in the Wilds and her present time as an active part of the Resistance.

I loved the way the author used the THEN and the NOW in alternate chapters to show how past happenings led up to present day events and characters. This was an audio version of the book and the narrator did an excellent job. Her voice and tempo were perfect and never once left me cringing (like some other narrators who shall remain nameless). Although this book revealed many secrets and the ending left me breathless I fear I will have to wait a long time for the next installment in the Delirium Series because this one was just released and I can’t wait. I know authors hear this complaint all the time, but why can’t they write faster? That’s how good this book is.

If you’re looking for another series to read and you like Young Adult material you really should try this one and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

In the fall of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart, setting them on radically divergent paths.

For me, Nicholas Sparks, has done it again. I know not everyone is a fan of a romance novel, but the author combines so many other things into his stories that it becomes a romance on a much higher level. I didn’t give it much thought when I started the boook(as an audiobook)that it might not end the way I wanted it to, but true to Mr. Sparks history he ended it the way he wanted and that caused me to use a lot of Kleenex. I love the story line, the characters, the location and everything about this book.
If you are a Nicholas Sparks fan and want a good cry pick this one up right now. You’ll be so happy you did.

She's young. She's beautiful. And her corpse, laid out in the office of Boston medical examiner Cat Novak, betrays no secrets - except for a notebook clutched in one stiff hand, seven numbers scrawled inside. When a second victim is discovered, Cat begins to fear that a serial killer is stalking the city streets: a shadowy madman without mercy or apparent motive. The police are sceptical. The mayor won't listen. And Cat's chief suspect is one of the city's most prominent citizens.

I believe this book has been called the “bridge” between the author’s romance novels and her medical crime thrillers and since I haven’t read any of her romance books but some of the medical thrillers, I’ll have to take it under advisement. What I won’t have to take under advisement is how good this story is. Not only good, but great. It had me hooked from the beginning and I hated to see it end. I also had hoped that there would be a hint of a sequel or next installment with the characters of Kat and Adam but in my investigations I have failed to come across any. Darn. Just when their relationship seems to have a chance of surviving, the book ends. Oh well, now that I’ve finished a medical thriller, it got me wanting more so I’ve started another one by one of my favorite authors, Patricia Cornwell and can’t wait to really get into it. If you enjoy Tess Gerritson and haven’t read Girl Missing you really should give it a try.

After reading SKINNED I was hooked on this series and couldn't wait to listen to the next installment.

This book covers a lot of territory at a fast pace and is a book that teens will easily relate to.

But even adults who love young adult literature will find this series well worthwhile.
    A very pleasant read.
